THE POSITION
The Department of Transportation is on the lookout for a Highway Maintenance Coordinator to join their team. This role acts as a vital support to the County Maintenance Manager, overseeing all maintenance operations within a designated section of the County Maintenance Organization. The coordinator will play a key role in the strategic planning of maintenance tasks across the County, ensuring that all activities are executed efficiently. Additionally, this position involves direct oversight of crew supervisors, providing hands-on management for various projects as they arise. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this role, you will be responsible for developing work plans, estimating project timelines, and managing maintenance operations, which encompass activities such as roadway expansion, construction tasks, patch repairs, minor bridge upkeep, guide rail installation, roadside signage, shoulder maintenance, crack and joint sealing, as well as snow removal efforts. You will also provide strategic recommendations regarding the distribution of equipment, workforce, and materials to achieve program objectives while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction with the outcomes.
You will conduct thorough reviews and adjustments of scheduled tasks by analyzing SAP reports, notes from initial planning sessions, weather forecasts, inventory assessments, equipment availability data, periodic plans, weekly schedules, and relevant highway materials information to ensure the implementation of effective operational procedures.
Your responsibilities will include inspecting ongoing work and completed projects to ensure compliance with Department standards, regional practices, and the original objectives of the assigned tasks, thereby certifying that all work adheres to ethical guidelines. Additionally, you will take the initiative to foster and support the development and implementation of innovative or enhanced work methods and materials.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
+ Full-time employment
+ Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
+ This position may be eligible for Alternate Work Schedule (AWS) upon successful completion of probationary period.
+ Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
+ Three years as a Highway Foreman 2; or
+ Five years of technical experience in highway maintenance or highway construction; or
+ An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:
+ This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
