Operates backhoe associated in roadway surface repairs throughout Horry County. Assists in handwork of hot mix asphalt and the laying of reinforced concrete pipe for drainage improvements. Operates motor grader used in full depth patching and roadway surface repairs. Operates tandem dump truck used in the hauling of various maintenance materials such as concrete pipe, asphalt , dirt and various materials used in maintenance operations. Performs manual labor to assist with the installation and repair to catch basins and other drainage structures and the placement of drainage pipes. Coordinates placement of traffic control devices to properly set up a maintenance work zone according to the SCDOT Work Zone Traffic Control and Field Guide to warn motorists. Flags traffic during road repairs to control the flow of traffic, making work sites safe for the workers and the traveling public.
