Highway Maintenance Worker - Heavy Equipment Operator (61035466) - State of South Carolina : Job Details

Operates heavy equipment such as motorgrader used for pulling high shoulders into the roadway to be removed. Verifies shoulder is level with roadway to ensure no water pending in roadway. Ensures precision operation is completed to result in neat work performed and work completed in a timely manner. Operates heavy equipment such as an excavator during ditching operations on shoulder crew. Precision holding grade with excavator needed to ensure no standing water in ditches. Operates excavator in the repairs of crosslines and driveway pipes. Ensures ditches are cleaned, neat and sloped correctly to prevent erosion. Performs manual labor in the laying of pipe for drainage purposes in the loading and unloading of bagged cement during skim patching operation and other maintenance activities required. Sets up work zone traffic control in preparation for shoulder work operation according to the traffic control manual and clears roadway; takes up traffic control when work is complete.
