HIM - Release of Information Specialist - 30 hours wkly - Troy Regional Medical Center : Job Details

***This position is NOT a remote position. Selected candidate will work on-site at Troy Regional Medical Center in Troy, Alabama. This is a PART-TIME position, working 25 to 30 hours weekly. Troy Regional is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the role of Part-Time Medical Records Release of Information Specialist to work on-site in our HIM department in Troy, Alabama. The Release of Information Specialist is responsible for responding to requests for patient information from authorized individuals, both internally and externally. This role requires the ability to understand and interpret patient privacy regulations and ensure that all information is released in compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The Release of Information Specialist will exercise discretion and independent judgment when handling patient information and providing confidential information to authorized requesters. This position requires excellent customer service and communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.

• Verify and process requests for release of information and medical records
• Confirm accuracy of information on requests and documents
• Abide by all laws, regulations, and policies governing the release of information
• Retrieve and assemble patient medical records in response to requests
• Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of records
• Maintain confidentiality of patient medical records
• Compose and type correspondence, reports, and other documents
• File and maintain records
• Provide customer service to patients, staff, and other customers
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Excellent organizational skills
• Knowledge of pertinent laws and regulations
• Proficiency with computer systems and databases

• Knowledge of HIPAA laws and regulations
• Ability to process information requests in a timely manner
• One year of experience in a similar role
