Analytically oriented individual to assist in the implementation and maintenance of HIM systems and processes. Provide support in the areas of process redesign, revisions of policy and procedures, develop and implement training curriculum for all functional areas within Health Information Management. Provide training and support to White Plains Associates, (internal and external to HIM) to HIM systems and processes. Assist in identification of enhancements to HIM systems and processes. Monitor the integrity of information captured in HIM systems and through manual processes to support HIM operations in an efficient and effective manner. Assist in the development and implementation of corrective measures to ensure system integrity and operational efficiency. Maintain documentation of forms inventories and imaging specifications Monitor forms for adherence to imaging requirements. Performs documentation integrity functions, such as chart corrections, scanning corrections, record merging. Assist in the development and documentation of policies and procedures to support HIM operations for training curriculum Assist in the development of a training curriculum that supports policies and procedures. Conduct orientation and training sessions on systems and processes Assist HIM Managers in the development of operational monitoring tools for respective functional units. Monitor quality and consistency of data feeds during all phases of system support (implementation, maintenance and upgrades). Work closely with HIM System Administration Staff to ensure integrity of Systems and processes Serves as a resource to departmental management and staff in finding innovative ways to use the automated systems to resolve operational issues / barriers. Develop expertise in the utilization of forms / templates application within operations and with systems. Maintain current working knowledge of systems and utilization of departmental operations Actively involved in the planning, testing, and installation of new features and systems Usage of available automated tools to assist in supporting departmental operations Execute special assignments and complete special projects as assigned. Employs good communications methods with all parties. Perform all other duties as required.Education, Training, Licensure and Experience Requirements High School Diploma or GED required Associate degree or equivalent certificate preferred Knowledge of healthcare operations preferred with expertise in HIM Processes/ Standards/ Systems and workflow Excellent Communications and Writing Skills with the ability to communicate and document Policies and Procedures and training plans. Knowledge of computer systems and impact of workflow processes including Desktop Applications: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Project Knowledgeable of Project Work Plans and Ability to Generate Deliverables and design operational and statistical reports 2 - 3 years of progressive experience in a complex healthcare or other related environment Satisfactory combination of education/knowledge/experience Interpersonal SkillsMust interact in a pleasant and professional manner with all internal and external customers; must be service-oriented and comfortable assisting others; must be able to retain composure under stress; must be able to speak, write, and understand the English language; must be a team player; must display leadership skillsEssential Physical RequirementsManual dexterity is required for use of computer keyboard and mouse; must be able to sit at a computer terminal for long periods of time; some lifting of stacks of records and stooping and stretching to access files is required; walking to other areas of the HIS Department and the Hospital is necessary.Essential Mental AbilitiesMust be able to perform duties despite constant interruptions; must be flexible and able to adapt to changes in routine responsibilities; must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines; demonstrates ability to follow written and oral instructions required for the position; demonstrates ability to analyze multidimensional problems into component parts and sort out tasks in priority order to solve the problem; must be able to synthesize information from various sources within a medical record and draw accurate conclusionsEssential Sensory RequirementsVisual acuity is needed for both review of records and data entry; sees objects up close and far away and hears normal sounds with some background noiseExposure to HazardsMay be exposed to chemicals necessary to perform required tasks. Any hazardous chemicals the employee may be exposed to are listed in the hospital's SDS (Safety Data Sheet) data base and accessed through the hospital's Intranet site (Employee Tools/SDS Access). A copy of the SDS data base can also be found at the hospital switchboard, saved on a disc.
