In this Role: - You will serve as both a Laboratory Lead and Individual Contributor. The Lab Lead will be expected to do bench work in addition to lab lead responsibilities.
- As a Lab Lead, you will oversee the workflow of Histology Technicians and Lab Assistants.
- You will leverage your passion for coaching and leading the work of others, and helping the team reach business goals.
- You will coordinate the workflow of the team
- You will problem-solve every day, from trouble-shooting diagnostic tools to resolving situational workflow and turnaround time challenges
- You will work very closely with the Clinical Lab Instructor to train new employees.
- You will bring your passion and enthusiasm for teamwork, success, innovation, and excellence to your role, every day.
- As an individual contributor, you will be preparing veterinary tissue samples for diagnosis.
- Depending on your knowledge and experience you will work on one or several of the following benches: Dissection, embedding, microtomy, and special staining.
What You Will Need to Succeed - Ideally, you will have 3-5+ years working in a histology laboratory.
- Strong histology background, including complex tissue dissection preferred
- Leadership, coaching, mentoring, and training experience a plus
- Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) preferred
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Associates, Bachelor's and / or Master's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
- ASCP certification preferred.
- You have a great sense of team spirit and responsibility
- You concentrate on the details and can work reliably and precisely
- You have a positive attitude and love to bring that energy into the lab every day to support your colleagues
- Able to meet the physical requirements of working in a lab - standing and sitting for extended periods, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision ability - close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- This is a laboratory, so there is potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.
What You Can Expect From Us: - Hourly wage starting at $33 - $35/hr based on experience. ASCP HT/HTL licensed candidates with industry experience may be considered for more advanced roles.

Schedule: - This is a full-time (40hr/wk), night shift positon with scheduled shifts: Monday - Friday, 10:00 pm - 6:30 am.
- Sometimes during our busier times of year, we ask workers if they would be able to work overtime, and stay until the work is complete.
- The shifts and hours may vary slightly depending on business needs.
- Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of the position.
