A local employer is seeking to fill the Historic Resources Coordinator position. The person filling this position will be well informed about Albany's historic districts, historic organizations and events. They will act as liaison between the historic organizations, event organizers and staff. This person will strive to be an integral part of the overall team, as well as represent the employer well with those historic organizations and event organizers in the community.
Minimum Requirements:
- 18 years old
- 1 year of office and management experience
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office & social media platforms
- Effective oral and written communication including a command of grammar
Preferred Requirements:
- Project management experience, grant writing and fundraising are a plus.
General Duties:
- In conjunction with the Director, prepare reports for Board of Directors, City Council and other stakeholders the results of efforts
- Assist with budget process and preparation of the City of Albany grant application and reporting as it pertains to historic resources
- Attend staff meetings and help coordinate employer functions.
- Assist visitors with information and directions (back-up when present)
- Answer the telephone and cover the welcome center as needed (back-up when present)
- Assist as needed with correspondence, organization, proof reading, information gathering, phone calling, etc.
- Other duties as assigned by Director
Historic Resources Management
- Act as liaison between historic groups in the community and the public.
- Act as a resource for the public with respect to historic districts, events, and architecture.
- Support historic resources with ideas for events with historical focus, event planning, event and site promotion.
- Oversee historic resources: home tours, historic partners contact for kids' summer passport, historic plaque program, and production of promotional & educational materials.
- Attend workshops, meetings, and conferences to glean information of interest to historic groups
Position Skills:
- Work as part of a team
- Excellent written and public speaking/oral presentation skills
- Keep Director and staff informed of schedule, obligations, and commitments and report progress to Director.
- Deal easily and professionally in one-on-one situations.
- Be organized in a busy office environment.
- Vehicle required, lift and carry 35lbs. Some travel and evening and weekend hours.
Wages and Hours:
- Salary range $21,000 to $24,000 Depending on experience and qualifications
- 20 hr. position requires some weekend and evening work.
