Our client, a private label home company working in a variety of home categories. They are seeking a talented and innovative Home Goods Designer with a focus on bedding, towels, and textiles to join their dynamic team in New York City.
Salary/Hourly Rate: $85,000 - $90,000 depending on experience
Position Overview: The ideal Home Goods Designer candidate will have a strong passion for design, excellent knowledge of textile materials, and an eye for trends and market demands. As a Home Goods Designer, you will be responsible for creating high-quality, stylish, and functional home goods collections that resonate with our target customers and align with our brand's vision.
Responsibilities of the Home Goods Designer: - Design and develop original home goods collections, including bedding, towels, linens, and other textile products, ensuring they are both aesthetically pleasing and functional
- Conduct market research and analyze consumer trends to inform the design of products that meet customer demands and stand out in the marketplace
- Collaborate with product development, merchandising, and marketing teams to ensure the seamless transition of designs from concept to production
- Create detailed product sketches, technical drawings, and specifications using design software (Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.)
- Select appropriate fabrics, materials, and color palettes that align with the product's intended use, sustainability goals, and brand identity
- Ensure designs adhere to industry standards for durability, comfort, and usability
- Work closely with manufacturers to ensure product quality, manage prototypes, and oversee production to maintain design integrity
- Monitor trends in textile design, home fashion, and sustainable materials to keep the brand at the forefront of the home goods industry
- Participate in product presentations and collaborate on packaging and branding to enhance the customer experience
- Maintain an organized design process, ensuring that all designs are documented and available for cross-functional teams
Qualifications for the Home Goods Designer: - 3+ years of experience designing home goods, specifically in bedding, towels, or textiles
- Strong proficiency in design software (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.)
- Knowledge of textile production processes, material properties, and fabrication techniques
- Ability to balance creativity with commercial viability, ensuring designs are marketable and aligned with the brand's objectives
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams
- Strong understanding of color theory, pattern creation, and material composition
- Ability to handle multiple design projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Experience working with sustainable materials and an understanding of eco-friendly practices is a plus
Education Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Textile Design, Fashion Design, Industrial Design, or a related field is required
