Essential Duties:- Provide direct advising services to a high volume of honors students on the Barrett curriculum requirements and honors opportunities.
- Maintain detailed student records and monitor student progress through systems such as PeopleSoft, DARS, and Salesforce.
- Actively build knowledge of key university and department resources and opportunities, and share information with new team members and colleagues.
- Provide individual advising appointments and collaborate to facilitate group advising sessions and drop-in advising to assist all Barrett students at regular intervals.
- Respond to general student requests for information and assistance in a proactive manner, and escalate urgent matters to advising leadership.
- Share co-curricular opportunities and resources with honors students that match their individual interests and goals, including Barrett opportunities and university-wide initiatives.
- Inform Barrett students of the honors thesis process through individual advising appointments, thesis workshops, and online resources.
- Use and become proficient in a variety of technological tools and systems such as student record databases, degree progress reports, and appointment systems.
- Participate in college committees and support college and university events including, but not limited to, New Student Orientation, Fall Welcome, Family Weekend, Homecoming, Celebrating Honors Thesis Symposium, and Convocation.
- Support projects and initiatives for advising and student services as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Monday-Friday 8:00 AM-5:00 PM in-person based at the Tempe campus
Desired Qualifications:- Evidence of a master's degree preferred; or enrollment in or plans to pursue a master's.
- Experience in working with honors, high achieving, or gifted students in an academic or related student services field. Honors college or program experience preferred.
- Experience in providing care, attention, and exceptional service in one-on-one interactions with students.
- Ability to be a problem solver who can gather facts and information to resolve issues with the guidance of leadership and proactively build personal knowledge base.
- Evidence of effective communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of university curriculum requirements and student development theory.
- Experience in working collaboratively and collegially with the team and outside partners to facilitate comprehensive student support.
- Experience in being self-motivated and comfortable working within a structured team and assisting in a variety of programs and projects and projects as needed.
- Experience in using Microsoft Office Applications (i.e. Word, Excel and Outlook); PeopleSoft; data analysis tools
Working Environment:- Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds
- Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
Salary Range:$46,300 - $49,000 per year; DOE
Minimum Qualifications:Associate's degree and one (1) year of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
