EXPERIENCE: Experience in Radiology field, with MRI and CT experience is preferred (will train new graduate at discretion of the Diagnostic Imaging Director).
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: - ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technology) required
- Current license to practice Radiologic Technology from the State of Nebraska required
- Current BLS certification required
- Must successfully complete MRI Registry Exam within 1 year of training in MRI and complete CT Registry Exam within 1 year of training in CT, this is at the discretion of the Diagnostic Imaging Director
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:- Conducts screening interviews of patients to identify contraindications, such as non-compatible cardiac pacemakers, ferrous objects, prosthetic heart valves, or pregnancy
- Explain MRI procedures to patients, patient representatives, or family members.
- Position patient on MRI table for exam using appropriate coil and protocol.
- Follows scanning protocols set by Radiologists and MRI department.
- Administers intravenous gadolinium to patients in accordance with the American College of Radiology contrast guidelines.
- Monitors patient safety and comfort during MRI, view images of area being scanned to ensure quality of exam.
- Performs MRI exams to include routine, trauma, and sedation cases. Scans proper documents to patient file in PACS system and completes charges for exam and supplies.
- May need to troubleshoot the machine, patient monitors, or coils. Knows how to contact service. Completes weekly ACR phantom scan.
- Awareness of quench. Knowledge of actions to take in such event.
- Proficient with ISTAT and know how to calculate GFR.
- Crosstrain in CT required.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the patient and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care for the patient served; identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious / spiritual needs of the patient and family.
- Proficient with PACS, EPIC, Radiant and accessing additional information through Internet Shortcuts.
- Attends and participates in departmental meetings / in-services, safety huddles, Impact Planning sessions, Open Forums, and Mary Lanning Healthcare quality improvement programs, etc.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
