THIS POSITION IS AN ONSITE - NOT REMOTE Functions as a Hospital Data Entry Clerk (Full Time) in a team and mission-based setting to provide assistance to Director of Support Services; maintains and secures mainframe database and integrity by entering and updating customer account information with payments, contractual and adjustments. Participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities. This position may be asked to work at other NCCH-designated work location or sites as needed. Supervision Received: Works under the direct supervision of the Director of Support Services or designated administrator. Special Conditions: Position is subject to Safety Sensitive / Drug Free Workplace Essential Functions: Prepares source data for computer entry Compiles, sorts, batches information, and follows established data entry procedures Reviews accounts (cash, charges, adjustments, financial class changes, and account notes.) Enters account data according to screen format or application requirements Processes account source documents Reviews data for deficiencies, and discrepancies and notify Director of Support Services. Returns incomplete documents to appropriate department for resolution Verifies account data Reviews, corrects, deletes, or re-enters data, and distributes reports to various departments for confirmation. Other Support Functions Assists, if necessary, end of month and end of year closing processes. Scans cash folders as outlined in department processes. Assist Director of Support Services with monthly and fiscal year end balancing and audit materials on a semi-annual and annual basis. Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or equivalent required. One (1) year data processing or computer operations experience required. Data processing or computer operations experience in a healthcare setting helpful. Knowledge of computer operating systems, database, and mainframe operations. Proficient typing skills (minimum 40 wpm), 10-key calculation, mainframe applications, and basic understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None required Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of HIPAA privacy requirements and medical terminology. Establish and maintain solid working relationships through communication, cooperation, and positive interactions with all patients/clients, employees, staff, providers, and vendors. Willingness to work a flexible schedule. Demonstrated ability to self-motivate and work independently with limited supervision. Strong customer service skills along with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Positive communication skills; ability to successfully interact with all customers; continuous demonstration of courteous, cooperative and service orientated behavior. Supports and maintains a culture of safety, quality and positive patient experience.
