Position SummaryA Fire Life Safety Director main function is to observe and report. The guard maintains a safe and secure environment for clients and employees. They detect suspicious activity, monitor the premises, and report all incidents in a timely fashion.Essential Job Responsibilities
- Act as first point of contact for patients, visitors, and hospital staff
- Monitor and control access to sensitive areas within the hospital
- Respond quickly to medical emergencies and assist healthcare professionals as needed
- Manage potentially volatile situations involving distressed patients or visitors
- Patrol hospital grounds and parking areas to ensure safety
- Monitor CCTV systems and other security equipment
- Secure premises by patrolling property, inspecting buildings, and monitoring access points
- Prevent unauthorized entry and escort individuals when necessary
- Respond to alarms or calls of distress, including Code Silver (active shooter) situations
- Assist with crowd control during high-stress situations or mass casualty events
- Investigate and document security incidents and breaches
- Collaborate with local law enforcement when required
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures
- Use hospital communication systems to stay in contact with staff and other security personnel
- Assist with de-escalation of agitated patients or visitors
- Protect hospital assets, including medical equipment and pharmaceuticals
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to remain calm under pressure
- Knowledge of healthcare security protocols and patient rights
- Familiarity with emergency response procedures
- Ability to make quick decisions in high-stress situations
- Physical fitness to respond to emergencies and restrain individuals if necessary
- Proficiency in using security and communication equipment
- Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality regulations

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED
- Must have an (F-89, Z-89, T-89)
- At least 18 years of age
- Valid state-issued security guard license
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Medical exam
- Previous security experience, preferably in a healthcare setting (1-3 years)
- Excellent physical condition and mental alertness
