The Hospital Services Site Supervisor reports to the Northwest Kidney Centers Hospital Services Nurse Manager and Assistant Nurse Manager for designated operations of dialysis services provided at specific contracted sites. This includes performing clinical duties, orienting, supervising, and assisting in the evaluation of hospital services staff, as well as maintaining responsibility for relations with patients, client hospital charge nurses, staff nurses, nephrologists and other physicians. The Site Supervisor is required to provide clinical dialysis to patients when there is a critical need for patient care coverage.

Shift: Days Monday through Friday 0800-1630 or 0800-1830

The ideal candidate will be responsible for:

* Dialysis Operations Oversight: responsible for overseeing daily dialysis operations at the hospital, ensuring that services such as hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and continuous renal replacement therapies (if applicable) are provided efficiently and in compliance with clinical and regulatory standards.

* Dialysis Liaison: serve as a primary point of contact between dialysis staff, hospital administrations, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure clear, ongoing communication to facilitate the coordination of dialysis services.

* Hospital Leadership Participation: active participation in hospital-specific activities, contributing to strategic initiatives, ensuring that dialysis operations are integrated with hospital goals, and participating in hospital committees or leadership forums.

* Infection Prevention: ensures that all staff adhere to proper infection prevention techniques during dialysis procedures, maintaining patient safety and meeting regulatory requirements.

* Collaboration with Infection Prevention Officers: work closely with both Northwest Kidney Centers (NKC) and the hospital's infection prevention officer to develop, implement, and monitor infection control protocols.

* Regulatory Compliance: responsible for monitoring compliance, conducting audits, providing guidance, and making sure hospital services staff meet regulatory requirements from entities like the Department of Health (DOH), the Joint Commission (TJC), and Det Norske Veritas (DNV). This would include keeping up to date with any changes in regulations, developing strategies to maintain compliance, and working closely with hospital partners to ensure proper procedures and policies are in place.

* Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement: actively participates in the hospital's QAPI programs and meetings. This involves collaborating with hospital leadership to monitor, assess, and improve the quality and performance of dialysis services, ensuring that all activities align with hospital standards and regulatory requirements.

* Employee Performance Evaluations: contribute to annual core site-specific performance evaluations by providing timely assessments of staff performance. This includes evaluating their adherence to operational protocols, regulatory compliance, patient care quality and overall effectiveness.

* Employee Concerns Resolution: prompt review, investigation, and resolution of any employee concerns that arise at the site.

* Policy Communication: clear communication of Northwest Kidney Centers personnel policies, procedures, and practices to all hospitals services staff at the site to ensure that all are fully informed about the organization's expectations, protocols, and guidelines.

* Employee Scheduling: responsible for creating monthly staff schedules for site, ensuring that all shifts are covered without gaps, and considering the varied needs of each department or location. Schedules should be created in line with productivity benchmarks to ensure staff are working efficiently and resources are not wasted.

* Coordination of Treatments: during critical staffing shortage, the site supervisor coordinates and performs dialysis treatments to ensure that patient care is not disrupted. This involves taking a hands-on approach to patient management and care delivery.

* Storage and Equipment Maintenance: managing the storage of dialysis supplies and equipment, ensuring they are organized, accessible and in compliance with health and safety regulations. This also includes regular maintenance and troubleshooting of machines as needed.

* Policy and Practice: based on evidence-based research, the site supervisor is responsible for recommending changes to policies and practices within the hospital services program to ensure that the program remains compliant with regulatory requirements and aligned with best practices.

* Collaboration with Technical Operations Specialists: work closely with Technical Operations Specialists to address any machine, supply, and water-related issues that fall under the responsibility of Northwest Kidney Centers. This collaboration ensures that all technical aspects of dialysis services are functioning optimally.

* Training as Hospital Services Scheduler: the site supervisor will undergo training to become more proficient in the role of hospital services scheduler.

* Functioning as Scheduler: in the absence of the hospital services scheduler or as deemed necessary by the nurse manager or assistant nurse manager, the site supervisor may take on the scheduling responsibilities to maintain operational continuity and ensure that patient care is not compromised.

* Continuing Education Attendance: required to attend yearly continuing education programs to enhance knowledge and skills related to dialysis services and patient care. These educational opportunities may include workshops, seminars, online courses, or conferences relevant to nephrology, dialysis technologies, infection control, patient safety and regulatory compliance.

* Department Needs Support: site supervisor may be assigned additional responsibilities that support the overall operations of the hospital services department. These tasks could vary based on departmental needs and priorities.
