Position Title: Hospitalist
Location: Granville Health System, Oxford, NC
Facility: 62-bed rural hospital, located 40 miles north of Raleigh, NC
Position Summary:
Granville Health System is seeking a dedicated Hospitalist to join our team in providing high-quality inpatient care to adult patients. The Hospitalist will work autonomously within their scope of practice and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care. This role includes a broad range of responsibilities, including diagnosing, treating, and managing both acute and chronic conditions, along with promoting disease prevention and recovery.
As a key member of our healthcare team, the Hospitalist will contribute to a safe, patient-centered environment, adhering to best practices and evidence-based guidelines. The position is based in a rural community hospital and involves significant interaction with a diverse patient population.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct inpatient care to adult patients, including both episodic and chronic disease management.
- Perform comprehensive evaluations, diagnoses, and treatments based on current evidence-based guidelines and internal medicine practices.
- Participate in both inpatient and outpatient consultations, ensuring accurate and thorough communication with patients and their families.
- Collaborate closely with other healthcare providers, including nurses, specialists, and support staff, to deliver coordinated care.
- Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and safety regulations to ensure high-quality care and minimize patient risk.
- Participate in quality assurance initiatives, including peer reviews, continuing medical education (CME), and ongoing professional development.
- Recognize and respect the diversity of our patient population, providing culturally competent and compassionate care.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry developments and best practices, ensuring clinical competence and compliance with hospital standards.
- Support the hospital's safety and infection control programs to protect both staff and patients.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- MD or DO with completion of an accredited Internal Medicine or Family Medicine residency program.
- Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
- Experience in a hospital setting preferred, with a strong ability to manage both acute and chronic patient conditions.
- Licensure & Certifications:
- Current and valid physician license in the state of North Carolina.
- Board Certification (or Board Eligibility) in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
- Skills & Attributes:
- Strong clinical knowledge and experience to meet institutional standards of care.
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) and familiarity with CPT/ICD-10 coding.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.
- A compassionate, approachable demeanor with the ability to adapt to the needs of a diverse patient population.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize patient care needs efficiently.
