Revered and raucously enjoyed for generations, the beloved landmark is the definitive luxury destination in the Santa Ynez Valley.Job DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARYThe Host is a vital member of the service team, they are responsible for controlling the bookings of the restaurant, providing a warm welcome to all guests as they enter the building, checking them in through the reservation system, escorting the guests to their table, answering the phone, making reservations, maintaining accurate status updates throughout service and a sincere farewell. The ideal candidate will exude warmth, be outgoing, professional, and have a strong ability to multitask. As well as work in a team-oriented, high-volume, fast-paced, guest-centric environment.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • The Host/Hostess is responsible for providing superior guest service that is consistent with Auberge standards.
  • All duties and assignments are to be performed according to departmental and Mattei's policy and procedure.
  • Greeting and seating guests.
  • Assisting guests with reservations via phone and in person.
  • Assisting guests with special requests.
  • Control the flow of outlets to maximize seating without sacrificing guest experience.
QualificationsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be able to communicate in English fluently and in a professional manner
  • Exhibit phone etiquette, organizational skills, basic computer knowledge (incl. reservations management system) and food/wine service knowledge.
  • Requires the ability to multitask, work efficiently and within a team environment.
  • Must be available to work all shifts; to include day, swing, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any licensing or active work cards required, at present or in the future, for this position at all times.
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Responsible Beverage certification
  • ServSafe certification or equivalent
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • 1 year work experience as a host person in a high-end restaurant is preferred.
