If these things describe you, we need your support.Program OverviewThe program houses teenagers between the ages of 12-20 years of age. The House Parent will encourage increasing individual independence, focus on education or vocational training, choice, and community integration for each client. Services are provided in the most inclusive, least restrictive, community-based fashion, while meeting the individual's needs and helping them work towards their goals. The goal for our youth and young adults is to work towards emancipation, returning home, or establishing stable housing.House Parent OverviewWe are seeking a full-time live-in House Parent. The House Parent/s will supervise and act as a role model for youth/young adults that live in the home. The group home parent will create and ensure that a physically and emotionally safe environment is provided for the youth. Room and board as well as access to the Group Home car is included in this position. As a House Parent, you will work closely with each resident, teaching basic living skills, assisting with homework, and overseeing chores and meal preparation. You will also be an active participant in community outings, leisure activities and other recreational activities daily.The House Parent/s will supervise and act as a positive role model for residents. Due to the unique nature of the position, Denver Children's Home will consider a couple for this position.Salary and BenefitsDenver Children's Home offers a competitive salary depending on your experience and education level. The salary range for this position is between $55,000 57,000.00 per year. In addition to your salary, full time employees are eligible for a very generous benefits package.   • Reside in the home with youth who are working toward emancipation, stable housing, or a returning home.
  • Responsible for providing a therapeutic family centered atmosphere in the home.
  • Responsible for the supervision, guidance, and safety of the youth.
  • Facilitate the development of independent living skills, pro-social behaviors, and implementation of individual goals for each youth.
  • Model positive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Provide guidance and structure around meal preparation, chore completion, homework, and daily routines.
  • Dispense medications as necessary in accordance with QMAP standards.
  • Transports youth to and from appointments, school meetings, and outings in the community as needed.
  • Collaborates with internal and external team members to meet the needs of the youth and in accordance with trauma informed interventions.
  • Maintain compliance with annual DMV reviews, physicals, and all training required by both the state and the agency.
  • Attending weekly team meetings and working collaboratively with clinical staff.
  • Complete daily, weekly and monthly administrative duties.
  • Have and maintain certification in Therapeutic Crisis Interventions (provided by Denver Children's Home) and intervene in crisis using approved verbal de-escalation strategies.
  • Receive supervision from the Program Manager and/or the Program Director.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree and experience in working with adolescents preferred.
  • Prefer group home and/or residential setting experience.
  • Must be at least 30 years of age.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to build rapport and create a therapeutic home setting for youth who have experienced trauma.
  • Perform basic writing, communication, and computer skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with other providers or team members.
  • Ability to meal plan and provide education around healthy eating options.
CERTIFICATIONSAll employees must successfully pass a number of pre-employment checks related to physical ability and personal background. These processes are mandated by the State of Colorado with which Denver Children's Home is in complete compliance. Job offers are contingent upon completion of each process listed below. Denver Children's Home provides employees with much of the required training and certification.Ability to pass a physical examination.
  • Successfully pass background checks with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and Federal Bureau of Investigation.
  • Ability to gain clearance through the Colorado Central Registry of Child Abuse and Neglect (TRAILS).
  • Have (or obtain) and maintain First Aid, CPR and QMAP certification.
  • Complete the training to become certified in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI).
  • Complete all requirements to become a Qualified Driver as defined by the DCH Automobile Insurance Policy and complete DCH Van Training to become transport eligible.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Requires walking, standing, sitting, fine hand or finger movement, detailed sight and hearing.
  • Requires use of office equipment requiring repetitive wrist/hand movement and vision.
  • Ability to routinely perform light lifting of 1-20 lbs., with occasional moderate lifting of 21-60 lbs. and heavy lifting of more than 61 lbs.
  • Frequent bending or stooping and reaching above shoulder level.
  • Requires climbing of stairs on a regular basis.
  • Driving automatic equipment/vehicles.
  • Free of dependency and abuse of illegal or illicit drugs, alcohol, inhalants, or other chemical or controlled substances.
