Housekeeper I - Valparaiso University : Job Details

Position Description:This position is responsible for providing a clean, healthy, and well-maintained area of assignment. Working in accordance with established policies and procedures this position will perform manual work in a variety of cleaning duties in and around university buildings and facilities. This includes but not limited to classrooms, lab rooms, offices, residence halls, guest rooms, and restrooms. This role offers a pay rate of $15.50 per hour.Major Responsibilities: Performs cleaning duties in areas as assigned such as; wash and sanitize toilets, sinks, showers, and restocking dispensers, straightening, dusting, wiping surfaces, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping floors, clean white/chalk boards, wash windows, wash walls, wash/wipe down trash cans, take out trash, etc.Unlock/lock buildingsKeep interior and exterior entrances safe and cleanCleans spills, soiled areas and other conditions as observed and or directedMaintains all equipment and supplies in proper condition, and properly storedEnsures work areas are safe and strictly adheres to safety procedures regarding cleaners or equipmentStock all equipment and supply carts with adequate suppliesEnsure cleaning schedules are followedProvide exceptional customer serviceReport maintenance and repair needs via the work order systemWork with the Building Services Supervisor to promote safetyOther duties as assigned Required Knowledge and Skills: High School Diploma or EquivalentMust be at least 18 years of age and have a valid driver's licenseMust present a neat, clean, well-groomed appearanceMust be in good physical health; walking/standing, reaching, bending/twisting, kneeling/crouching/crawling, lifting, forceful gripping/grasping, pushing, pulling or repetitive motion about 95% of the time.Ability to frequently lift, carry, push/pull up to 50 poundsAbility to operate low and high-impact toolsAbility to climb stairs and laddersWork from a ladder and work with arms and hands overhead Other Qualifications: Must be able to work well with little or no supervision and take directionMust be able to maintain a courteous, friendly, and helpful attitude with individuals on campus.Must be cooperative and willing to help fellow coworkers at all times.Ability to exercise care in the use of cleaning materials for different types of building surfaces.
