Position Summary:

Deliver outstanding service and hospitality to our residents by performing assigned housekeeping tasks, including, but not limited to, resident rooms, bathroom, common areas, hallways, nursing stations, hand rails, dining rooms, shower rooms, public bathrooms and offices.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)

Maintain a positive attitude and professionalism under all circumstances.

Protect privacy and ensure confidentiality in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

Ensure compliance with OSHA and Health department regulations and perform other duties as assigned.

Adhere to strict infection control guidelines as evidenced by appropriate use of personal protective equipment.

Ensure residents are free from abuse, mistreatment and neglect and report any such incidents to the appropriate facility staff.

Perform deep cleaning and daily cleaning tasks as scheduled.

Clean assigned areas by washing windows, tile, fixtures, doors, equipment and floors. Vacuum, dust and polish specified areas and furnishings.

Clean and sanitize bathrooms including sinks, countertops, toilets, urinals, doors, handles, mirrors, etc.

Tidy up resident rooms of personal belongings.

Gather and transport refuse from assigned areas to appropriate disposal location.

Operate floor buffer and vacuum and maintain all public areas.

Keep utility and storage rooms in a clean and orderly fashion.

Restock housekeeping cart at the end of the day, keeping the cart in a clean and orderly fashion with chemicals not in use locked inside the cart.

Must be able to follow all safety practices such as wearing personal protective equipment, reading chemical warning labels, and other safe work practices.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Housekeeper does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Qualification Standards:

Knowledge of housekeeping tasks and responsibilities, and understanding of cleaning materials and chemicals.

Ability to safely work with equipment and mild chemicals common to the trade and do so in a manner safe to oneself, others in the area, and to the environment.

Special Requirements:

Ability to work a flexible schedule, evening and weekend hours.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor at all times.

Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection control standards.

Ability to work independently with minimum direction.

Must be effective at listening to, understanding, clarifying and resolving the concerns and issues raised by resident, guests, and co-workers.

Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.

Ability to efficiently process and prioritize tasks.

Ability to operate assigned tools and housekeeping equipment.

Ability to work with chemicals and cleaning solutions.

Ability to understand and follow directions.

Must be detailed oriented and have positive attitude.

Must be able to understand the potential hazards and subsequent procedures involved in working around commercial cleaning agents and industrial machinery.

Equipment Used:

Ability to operate a variety of cleaning equipment including, vacuum cleaner, dust mop, wet mop. Gloves are recommended when emptying trash and using cleaning agents.

Physical, Mental and Visual Demands:

Ability to stand, walk, talk, hear, use hands to finger, grasp, handle or feel; push, pull, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Ability to lift and or move up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Light mental and visual attention required for performing work where there is some variety but actions taken and decisions made are limited to few possibilities. Work requires some coordination with others.

Environmental Conditions:

Work is performed in a typical medical environment. The worker is subject to noise, dust, moving parts and equipment, and exposure to electrical current, cleaning chemicals and blood and bodily fluids that require following extensive safety precautions and include the use of protective equipment.
