Position Title: HOUSEKEEPER - Part-Time (16 hrs/wk)FLSA Status: Non-exemptLocation: National Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche - Rectory (St. Augustine)Reports to: RectorGeneral Summary:The Housekeeper provides cleaning, cooking and laundry services for people living in the rectory.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:A. Assures the cleaning of the rectory. This is accomplished by dusting, sweeping, mopping, waxing, and vacuuming the rectory. The Housekeeper develops a cleaning schedule to ensure the rectory is maintained in an orderly manner.B. Assures the preparation of meals for people living in the rectory. The Housekeeper plans meals, shops for and purchases food, prepares meals and cleans the kitchen. Collaborates with Rector in determining meal schedule and budget for food.C. Assures laundry for the rectory, Shrine sacristies and Pilgrim Center area washed, dried, dry cleaned and pressed as appropriate.D. Oversees the purchase and ordering of household supplies for the rectory. The Housekeeper prepares a list of supplies needed and makes purchases as authorized by the rector or his delegate.E. Serves as receptionist for the rectory. The Housekeeper answers the phone when the pastor is absent, greets visitors and provides information and referral to persons needing assistance.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:A. Practicing Catholic in good standing and registered member of a Catholic parish faith community. Must have the ability to respect, promote, accommodate, and not conflict with the mission, moral, and social teachings, doctrines, and laws of the Roman Catholic Church.B. A high school diploma or its equivalent is required. C. One (1) to three (3) years' experience in general housekeeping is a plus.D. Familiarity with cooking Columbian food preferred.E. Must be proficient in English and Spanish grammar.F. Must have excellent time management and organization skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.G. Must have the ability and experience to work in a respectful team environment with other employees and Shrine guests, and the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with clergy, employees, and outside contacts.H. Ability to respect and work with diverse cultures that makes up the Shrine and society and strives to celebrate commonalities and differences among various groups.I. Must successfully pass the required criminal background check and successfully complete the Protecting God's Children seminar, prior to employment, maintaining this clearance and updated certification.LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, vendors, employees, and the general public.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.REASONING ABILITYAbility to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.PHYSICAL DEMANDSThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
