Job Title: Housekeeper - TCCJob Code: HK TCC Department: TC Housekeeping Division: Tsali Care Center Salary Level: Non-Exempt 2 Reports to: Housekeeping Supervisor Last Revised: April 2022 Primary Function The Housekeeper performs routine and specialized cleaning tasks to maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary environment within Tsali Care Center. The role adheres to OSHA guidelines and sanitation standards to meet the needs of residents while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDaily Cleaning and Maintenance
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as trash removal, dusting, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and cleaning spills.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms and fixtures; restock supplies such as soap, towels, and tissue.
  • Collect and bag soiled linens for storage and transport.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned areas daily.
  • Operate housekeeping equipment such as floor buffers, scrubbers, and vacuum cleaners safely.
  • Follow material safety data sheets (MSDS) for cleaning solutions and disinfectants.
Specialized Cleaning Tasks
  • Perform non-routine cleaning such as washing windows, scrubbing walls, and shampooing carpets.
  • Handle biohazard waste disposal in compliance with OSHA protocols.
  • Move and rearrange furniture as requested.
Laundry Duties
  • Wash and dry residents' soiled clothes as required.
  • Launder and maintain cleaning tools such as mops and buffer pads.
General Housekeeping Support
  • Respond to special cleaning requests promptly.
  • Keep housekeeping office and storage areas neat and orderly.
  • Clean outdoor trash receptacles and manage garbage removal for the entire facility.
  • Monitor and report equipment repairs or replacements to the supervisor.
Compliance and Safety
  • Follow established safety guidelines, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Adhere to all sanitation and quality assurance requirements.
  • Notify the supervisor of unusual circumstances or safety hazards.
Team Collaboration and Flexibility
  • Work scheduled shifts, including weekends and holidays, as assigned.
  • Perform additional duties as requested to support housekeeping operations.
Education/Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • One month on the job required to become proficient in most tasks.
Job Knowledge
  • Knowledge of Tsali Care Center's housekeeping policies, procedures, and OSHA protocols.
  • Skilled in operating and maintaining cleaning equipment, such as buffers, scrubbers, and vacuum cleaners.
  • Familiarity with sanitation guidelines and safety procedures, including handling biohazard materials.
  • Ability to read, write, perform basic arithmetic, and follow verbal and written instructions.
Contact with Others
  • Interacts with coworkers, facility personnel, residents, and the public.
  • Ensures safety measures are taken to prevent injuries to others, such as marking wet floors and managing equipment cords.
Mental/Visual/Physical Requirements
  • Attention to detail is necessary for certain cleaning procedures.
  • Job requires extensive physical effort, including walking, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, and working in awkward positions.
  • Must possess visual acuity, manual dexterity, and the ability to hear and speak effectively.
Work Environment
  • Primarily works indoors but may encounter wet cleaning solutions and biohazard substances.
  • Exposed to potential risks such as falls, back strain, minor cuts, or electrical shock.
  • Proper use of safety equipment and adherence to protocols minimizes risk.
