Our residents share a bond of mutual respect with our staff that builds memorable and lasting relationships.OverviewUnder the supervision of the Environmental Services Supervisor, the Housekeeper is responsible for the daily cleaning of all resident rooms and bathrooms in assigned neighborhoods. Collect trash, clean Nurses' station, lounge, refrigerator, soiled and clean utility rooms, rest rooms and other assigned public areas. Clean central bath and shower room according to procedures.Essential Functions
  • Follows the 7 steps of cleaning.
  • Performs the cleaning of resident rooms after discharges. For any resident in isolation, follows special cleaning procedures according to the type of isolation.
  • Maintains equipment in good working condition and returns it to the proper location after use.
  • Keeps record of special duties and, if extra help is needed, calls supervisor.
  • Follows all safety and sanitation regulations and practices.
  • Attends all required in-service training programs.
  • Reports to supervisor any special housekeeping requests and any unusual occurrences concerning employees and residents' health and well-being.
  • Uses chemicals and supplies in a proper manner.
  • Follows infection control standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • 1 year of experience in housekeeping in the healthcare industry is required.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in an understandable manner.
  • General knowledge of proper cleaning methods in a medical facility including proper use of supplies and equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of the safe operation and proper use of housekeeping machinery, tools, supplies, and equipment.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Requires ability to accurately plan work routine and complete assigned duties in allotted time with appropriate supervisory assistance.
  • Ability to carry out directions, follow schedule, and prioritize.
  • Requires physical ability to push equipment and linen cart and to move light furniture.
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team.
Environment and Working Conditions
  • Ability to focus on task needs and perform intellectual executive functions as related to the functions of the environmental services operation.
  • Ability to execute intellectual tasks and duties under conditions of high demand and distraction.
  • Ability to complete the essential functions of the position with or with adaptive personal devices (e.g., hearing aid, corrective lenses).
  • Ability to operate equipment and technology required for the position.
  • Able to wear personal protective equipment.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Able to assist with the evacuation of residents under emergency status to the best of their physical ability.
  • Able to function independently with integrity and work effectively with residents, personnel, and support agencies.
  • Able to constantly stand, walk, and move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Able to frequently push and/or pull a force of up to 26 pounds as relates to laundry cart, trash, etc.
  • Able to reach overhead, bend, and occasionally carry or lift up to 50 pounds and frequently carry or lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Able to frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
