Housekeeping and Laundry Supervisor
POSITION SUMMARY
Oversees and maintains the Housekeeping/Laundry Department according to established rules, policies, and procedures. Supervises and directs other personnel to accomplish desired outcomes. Mindful of keeping the facility in a safe, clean, attractive manner.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
DEVELOP SYSTEMS AND STAFFING OF THE HOUSEKEEPING AND LAUNDRY DEPARTMENTS
* Develops work schedules and assigns areas of work.
* Delegates duties to staff consistent with their knowledge and skill.
* Supervises, coordinates, and completes the training of new employees to their specific duties.
* Assists with maintenance department when Maintenance Director is away.
RESPONSIBLE FOR ORDERING, RECEIVING, AND STORAGE OF NEW EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES
* Works with a budget as outlined by Administrator and Monarch Healthcare Management.
* Meets with sales representatives from companies as contracted and directed by Monarch Healthcare Management, as necessary.
* Communicates customer service of said companies to Administrator and VP of Operations.
* Follows purchase order policy to obtain supplies and equipment for housekeeping and laundry departments.
* Communicates with central laundry to maintain adequate supplies of linen.
* Monitors and repairs equipment. Reports break downs and necessary repairs to Administrator.
MAINTAIN CURRENT LEVELS OF EDUCATION AND FACILITATE THE IMPLEMENTATION OF NEW POLICIES AND PROCEDURES WITH THE FACILITY
* Participates in inspections and audits of these departments, to maintain safe and sanitary condition. Documents accordingly.
* Attends meetings as directed to include department director meetings, Quality Assurance meetings, etc.
* Conducts housekeeping/laundry staff meetings and documents minutes.
* Attends continuing education/in-services pertinent to your department and designated by the ADON.
* Attends all staff education of the Rehabilitation Center relating to safety, infection control and disease process.
* Participates in inspections and audits as designated.
* Attends educational programs on Continuous Quality Improvement, customer satisfaction and other such programs.
* Maintains current knowledge of Minnesota Department of Health regulations.
* Assist in policy and procedure development and educates personnel accordingly.
* Identifies areas of problem/needs through surveys and communicates these at QA&A Committee meetings.
* Is knowledgeable of and abides by the importance of the Residents' Bill of Rights.
PROMOTES AND ESTABLISHES HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS AND USES PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT WITH SUPERVISORS, OTHER HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONALS, RESIDENTS, FAMILIES, VISITORS, AND CO-WORKERS
* Arrives at work area on time and ready to begin work. Is able to prioritize and be organized and efficient when interacting and communication.
* Follows policy on absenteeism, tardiness, and call-ins as outlined in Personnel Policy Manual.
* Follows dress code, wears name tag, and limits personal phone calls.
* Is courteous and cooperative with residents, families, visitors, supervisors, and coworkers.
* Promotes and positive and professional image both in the facility and in the community.
* Maintains resident confidentiality at all times. Understands the need for complete privacy of all health care data.
* Abides by and promotes the Continuous Improvement Program of Monarch Healthcare Management.
QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Experience/Education
* High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Required Skills and Abilities
* Must exhibit dependability, initiative, and flexibility.
* Must be willing to work with other staff and establish satisfactory relationships with residents and co-workers.
* Must be able to work with or without supervision and be a team player.
* Ability to clearly speak and proficiently read and write in English.
* Ability to take direction and follow oral and written instructions.
* Must be able to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
* Must qualify for employment, after criminal background check, per guidelines of the Minnesota Department of Human Services.
