JOB TITLE:Housing InspectorDEPARTMENT:Health DepartmentSALARY RANGE:$ 45,000 - $ 70,000DATE POSTED:November 8, 2024CLOSING DATE:Until filled _ JOB DESCRIPTIONUnder direction of the Health Officer or designee, performs rental housing inspections and enforces related regulations in all buildings required to be inspected in accordance with the code of Princeton, State Housing Code and laws pertaining to the delivery of public health services. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting routine and complaint driven rental housing inspections, rental housing lead inspections. The position will assist with complaints assigned to rental housing and or the health department.Since the position is physically located within the Health Department, possession of NJ Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) license is a plus. REHS investigations would be conducted in accordance with the provisions of the New Jersey State Sanitary Code in such areas as: retail food establishments, public recreational bathing, tanning facilities, youth camps; body art procedures, public health nuisances, communicable disease control, kennels, pet shops, shelters and pounds. Candidate will also be involved with National Public Health Accreditation efforts. Applicant must possess excellent writing and communication skills and will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used for report writing and documentation.PREFERRED ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS•In-depth working knowledge of lead inspection and abatement and/or NJ Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor License. •State of NJ Registered Environmental Health Specialist License a plus. •Bi-lingual preferred. Candidates with bilingual capabilities will provide translation services within the office and in the field. •Excellent written & oral communication skills and proficient PC skills.•Must satisfy employer paid physical, drug screen and criminal background check. •Must have a valid NJ Driver's License in good standing if driving municipal vehicles.•NJ residency required by N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70)•Pursuant to Federal Law, proof of US Citizenship or immigration status will be required upon hire.
