About Our Opportunity We are seeking an HR Assistant to work in the Blairs, VA, distribution facility. The HR Assistant will be responsible for assisting with: Recruitment, leave administration, onboarding, human resources administration, time & attendance administration, filing, first tier employee relations / engagement processes, project execution, and learning & development. Responsibilities
  • Provides general support to other members of the HR Department, primarily as related to administrative or clerical tasks.
  • Assists with reviewing job applicants, scheduling of interviews, pre-employment administrative tasks, and onboarding consistent with Company polices under EEO guidelines.
  • Administers new hire orientation and with new hire candidates.
  • Coordinates meetings, handles on-site training scheduling, assists with employee engagement activities and celebrations.
  • Establishes, develops, maintains and updates filing system for the HR Department. Performs daily and weekly filing. Retrieves information from files when needed. Coordinates annual file archiving process.
  • Administers the Security Badge System and Policy, which includes issuing security badges to new hires, replacing lost or stolen employee badges, and processing approved access permission changes as needed.
  • Assists with performance management, performance improvement plans (PIPs), talent management and organizational development processes required to support the business.
  • Administers daily Time and Attendance system, works with leadership teams to clear errors and accurately apply PTO. Runs reports from system as required. Monitors Time & Attendance and works with leaders to ensure timecards are audited and verified to move the pay period to a closed state for payroll processing.
  • Receives, audits, codes and prepares temporary agency invoicing for HR Manager signature. Distributes approved and coded invoices to A/P for processing.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications
  • Understanding of the foundational knowledge of the principles and practices of Human Resources and related governmental rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Strong work ethic; desire to hone skills to the highest level, and to develop within a best-in-class organization.
  • Must have strong computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of time management and human resource information systems preferred.
  • Ability to meet deadlines; accomplish work in order of priority; professionally maintain composure and effectiveness under pressure and changing conditions. Effective time management skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field is preferred and highly desired.
  • 1-3 years of relevant Human Resources experience and/or training preferred; some prior relevant work or internship experience strongly preferred.
  • Prior Administrative Administration experience required.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR or SPHR) certification is a plus.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
