Job Summary :Terrific opportunity to provide financial accounting support to this leading asset/wealth management firm by covering the Human Resources and Compensation & Benefits functions while reporting to the Controller in Finance. The HR Controller is responsible for all financial accounting, controls, systems and reporting related to HR matters. This person will work closely with internal partners to provide timely and accurate financial information to management and will help drive HR and Controlling process improvement and change management projects. This position is hybrid and may be based in Woodbridge, NJ or New York City.Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure the integrity of consolidated books and records and the results of individual legal entities by ensuring that financial information is fairly presented in accordance with US GAAP and Firm policies
- Develop and manage monthly financial and accounting processes, reporting, and analysis for compensation and headcount; calculate and monitor regular accruals and provisions
- Ensure compliance with defined certain aspects of Sarbanes-Oxley, control matrices and other internal control policies; develop, document and maintain policies and procedures
- Reconcile payroll to the General Ledger and ensure proper resolution of any matters
- Partner with Payroll to ensure benefits are correctly recorded
- Reconcile and clear miscellaneous and suspense payroll related balances on the balance sheet
- Modernize and maintain a corporate compensation model; reconcile to HR data
- Produce the annual Plan, forecasts, and ad hoc analyses
- Develop and prepare, with HR, quarterly roll forward schedules for review with CHRO and CFO to ensure oversight and monitoring of headcount and compensation throughout the year
- Perform formulaic compensation calculations (Wealth Advisory and Client Advisory new business and net addition related bonus calculations and investment performance awards) and provide entries to Payroll
- Perform discretionary compensation calculations and provide entries to Payroll
- Maintain a record of deferred compensation balances by employee, year, base award, and current value to ensure proper expense recognition and classification. Reconcile the file to HR and general ledger
- Maintain and update tracking schedules for restricted stock awards, including vesting by person on a GAAP and legal basis and prepare journal entries
- Maintain and update a schedule of multi-year signing bonus awards and expenses by person and prepare journal entries
- Support internal and external audit activities and inquiries with a controls mindset
- Establish and maintain relationships with internal partners (i.e. Planning and Analysis teams, HR Business leads, Procurement, Accounts Payable, Corporate Tax, Legal Entity Controllers, etc.)
- Understand robotics and automation tools to drive efficiencies
- Conduct and understand complex accounting projects and transactions
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree required
- Minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience required in accounting or finance, with demonstrated career progression
- Big Four public accounting experience, large corporate experience and/or CPA preferred, and advanced US GAAP accounting knowledge
- Experience with General Ledger bookings and oversight of monthly close processes including balance sheet reconciliation/substantiation, journal entries, and variance analysis
- Proven ability to exercise judgement, use discretion, and operate with integrity at all times
- Structured mindset with process/continuous improvement orientation and automation or intelligent solution experience preferred
- Proven ability to interface with various partners and internal clients
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
- Exceptional analytical and financial skills with a track record of execution against deliverables

Salary: $150,000- $180,000 + bonus and generous 401K/Profit Sharing plan
