The HR Coordinator is responsible for providing assistance to the Human Resources Manager in one or more functional areas of the Port's Human Resources and Finance departments. This includes, but is not limited to, providing support in the areas of payroll administration, recruitment, labor relations, benefits and training. Essential Functions Essential Functions: *Human Resources (75%):Provide professional support to the Human Resources Manager in the areas of, but not limited to:
- Payroll Administration: Enter payroll for maintenance and administrative employees.
- Benefit Administration: Process and file reports for the comprehensive benefits program including medical, dental, vision, life insurance plans, HRA VEBA, employee assistance program, paid leave and wellness plans.
- Recruitment and Selection: Support the HR Manager in the recruitment/hiring process including communicating with applicants and maintaining records in the Port's HRIS system (NeoGov).
- Record Retention: Maintain employee personnel records (ie: payroll, personal information, leaves, etc.) in both paper and electronic and ensure all employment requirements are met.
- Respond to Verification of Employment (VOE) requests.
- Assist supervisors in performance management procedures.
- Assist with maintenance of job descriptions and classifications.
- Manage the Service Awards program.
- Assist with updating and maintaining Administration and Maintenance handbooks.
- Annual Reporting: Assist with annual ACA administration.
- Training: Coordinate training sessions and seminars for Port of Longview staff.
*Finance (25%): Provide professional support to the Finance Manager in the areas of, but not limited to:
- Union Reporting: Prepare monthly union reports, including reconciling between payroll deductions and withholdings.
- Quarterly/Annual Reporting: Prepare and reconcile Washington Labor & Industries and distribute W-2's.
- Primary back-up for longshore payroll.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
- An associate's degree in business or a related field.
- One to two years prior human resources and accounting/payroll experience preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy in data entry.
- Excellent time management skills and dedication to meeting deadlines.

- Understanding and willingness to maintain strict confidentiality in all human resources matters.
*Beginning salary will be dependent upon qualifications and experience. New hires typically start at 85-90% of the range midpoint. The midpoint for this position is $75,240. Supplemental Information Reporting Relationships: This position reports to the Human Resources Manager. This position does not provide formal supervisory direction to others. The following is an overview of the benefits available to administrative employees of Port of Longview:
- Vacation: Full-time Port employees earn 96 hours of paid annual leave during their first year of employment. This rate is increased to a maximum of 240 hours per year, depending upon length of service.
- Sick Leave: Sick leave is accrued by full-time Port employees at the rate of 8 hours per month.
- Holidays: Employees receive 11 paid holidays (at 8 hours each) annually, plus floating holidays.
- Retirement: Eligible Port employees are mandatory members of the State of Washington Public Employees Retirement System (PERS). New employees have a choice between PERS Plan 2 and PERS Plan 3. Both the Port and the employee contribute to the system.
- Deferred Compensation: Employees may participate in by making contributions to this tax-deferred retirement account.
- Insurance Plans: Each fulltime employee is covered by full-family insurance (if eligible), paid for by the Port. This insurance includes medical, dental and vision coverage.
- Group Life Insurance: The Port provides coverage to fulltime employees in the amount of 200% of your annual salary, to a maximum of $400,000 life insurance.
- Port will contribute monthly to a HRA VEBA account.
