POSITION IS OPEN TO CURRENT UNIVERSITY OF RHODE ISLAND EMPLOYEES ONLY.

BASIC FUNCTION:
Responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and management of HR policies, communications, and strategic projects. Ensure that HR policies align with organizational goals, meet compliance requirements, and reflect best practices in employee relations and engagement. Develop HR communication strategies to ensure optimal engagement with university staff, while managing special HR projects that support continuous improvement within the department.
Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research, draft, and manage HR policies to ensure compliance with legal requirements and alignment with organizational standards, collaborating closely with campus partners.
Update policies as laws and organizational needs evolve, maintaining a centralized repository for easy employee access.
Develop and implement a comprehensive HR communication strategy to enhance staff engagement and understanding of programs, policies, and initiatives.
Create engaging communication materials and collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent and aligned messaging.
Lead HR projects, including policy roll-outs and engagement initiatives, ensuring timely completion and effective coordination across departments.
Provide employees and managers with guidance on HR policies while collecting feedback to drive continuous improvement.
Stay informed on HR trends and regulations, recommending improvements to policies, communications, and processes.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform other duties as required.
LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:
Personal computers, word processing, database management, project management, and spreadsheet software.
Required Qualifications
REQUIRED:
1. CURRENT UNIVERSITY OF RHODE ISLAND EMPLOYEE.
2.. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field.
3. Minimum of three years of experience in HR, policy management, communications, and/or project management.
4. Demonstrated experience managing HR policies and processes (including dedication to staying up-to-date on relevant laws and best practices).
5. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
6. Demonstrated proficiency in written communication skills.
7. Demonstrated ability to convey complex information in a clear, concise manner.
8. Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with diverse stakeholders and to communicate effectively across all levels of an organization.
9. Demonstrated project management skills (including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines).
10. Demonstrated track record of proactively seeking solutions to challenges, streamlining processes, and identifying efficiencies.
11. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS.
12. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations.
Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED:
1. Demonstrated experience working in human resources in higher education.
2. Demonstrated training in Lean Six Sigma methodology.
3. Demonstrated ability to use advanced techniques in spreadsheet, database, and/or presentation software.
4. Demonstrated knowledge of various employment laws and practices.
5. Demonstrated understanding of the differing needs and concerns of individuals with varying identities, cultures, and backgrounds.
