Job Title: HS Indoor Track, Assistant Coach Location: New London High School Job Summary: New London High School Athletics Department is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated High School Indoor Track Coach to lead our program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for indoor track and a commitment to fostering the athletic and personal development of student-athletes. The coach will be responsible for planning and executing practices, organizing competitions, and promoting sportsmanship and teamwork. Key Responsibilities:
- Program Management: Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for the Indoor Track team, including daily practices, conditioning, and skill development.
- Team Development: Coach and mentor student-athletes, focusing on both individual and team skills. Encourage sportsmanship, teamwork, and a positive attitude.
- Competition Preparation: Prepare the team for matches and tournaments, including strategic planning, match preparation, and in-game coaching.
- Recruitment and Retention: Work with school administration to recruit and retain student-athletes for the Indoor track program.
- Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with athletes, parents, and school administration. Provide regular updates on team progress, schedule changes, and other relevant information.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with school policies, league regulations, and safety protocols. Keep accurate records of practices, matches, and player performance.
Qualifications:
- Certification: Must hold a valid State of Connecticut Coaching Certification. First Aid, CPR, and Concussion Certification are required.
- Experience: Previous coaching experience in Indoor track, preferably at the high school or collegiate level, is highly desirable.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of Indoor track techniques, strategies, and rules. Demonstrated ability to effectively teach and develop players.
- Personal Attributes: Demonstrated interest in and aptitude for performing the responsibilities of the position. Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes while promoting sportsmanship and teamwork.
- Additional Requirements: Must pass a background check and meet any additional requirements set by the school or district.
Working Conditions:
- This is a part-time, seasonal position typically involving after-school hours and weekends for practices and matches.
- Must be able to work in various weather conditions and maintain a flexible schedule.
