But we all share one goal: to improve the world responsibly and safely.This position will support the Space Suits and Exploration Operations (SSEO) Technical Area, which conducts research and provides operational expertise on tasks supporting optimal Human Health and Performance for extravehicular activities (EVAs). Disciplines include Extravehicular Activity (EVA) physiology and possible support to exercise physiology and countermeasures. This position will provide support for human research studies directed toward development and evaluation of suited health and performance outcomes and new hardware to support upcoming planetary Exploration missions.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesWork with the NASA Lab Lead(s) and Technical Area lead(s) to implement research activities outlined in the Integrated EVA Human Research Plan and the Exercise and Performance Strategic RoadmapAssist with coordination of human research studies and engineering evaluations, including scheduling and integration with study team, stakeholders and collaboratorsPrepare study documentation, including Institutional Review Board protocols, test plans, test readiness review packages, progress reports, etc.Design and maintain data acquisition systemsPerform equipment set-up, calibration, and monitoring for tests/evaluationsMonitor human subjects and collect physiological data during research studies and/or operational training, including at analog facilities and field locationsPerform other duties as assignedResponsible for compliance with Safety, Health and Environmental plan; must be committed to a high standard of safety and be willing and able to comply with all safety laws and all of the Company's safety policies and rules and must be willing to report safety violations and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnelResponsible for compliance with the Quality Assurance Plan, policies and proceduresResponsible for completing all assigned trainingEducation/ExperienceREQUIRED:Bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering, physiology, or related science field and approximately 10 years of experience or combination of graduate-level education and experience is requiredExperience conducting human health and performance research, including physiological monitoring and/or kinematic analysisMust be a US citizen or legal permanent residentDESIRED:A master's degree in biomedical engineering, physiology, or related science field and 5 years of applicable experience, or a Ph.D. with at least 2 years of applicable experience.Experience evaluating hardware, such as wearable sensors or other health-related equipmentApplied physiologist experience in offloading analogs and extreme environmentsExperience with implementation of operational studies to evaluate human performance and human-system interactions, especially related to spaceflightSuccessful grant writing experienceSkills/TrainingREQUIRED:Demonstrated ability to work with an inter-disciplinary team of scientists, engineers, and medical doctorsExcellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member; employee will be required to work and communicate with human test subjects, astronauts, personnel across multiple JSC directorates and external collaboratorsHighly motivated with developed organizational skills; must be able to work independently with minimal oversight and support multiple projectsEffective written and verbal communication skills, both formal and informal, including oral presentationsStandard PC and Microsoft Office skills for preparation of documents and presentationsDESIRED:Ability to critically analyze data and perform statistical analysisExperience with spaceflight related analogs and/or simulations, including augmented/hybrid realityDemonstrated skill in preparation of technical reportsExperience with bioinstrumentation and data acquisition systemsExperience with CAD and modeling tools such as SolidWorks, ProE, Blender, PolyworksExperience with 3D printing/additive manufacturingExperience with MATLAB, R, Python programming, or equivalentRelocation funds may be available.KBR Benefits​KBR offers a selection of competitive lifestyle benefits which could include 401K plan with company match, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, AD&D, flexible spending account, disability, paid time off, or flexible work schedule.
