Position Summary:
Responsible for all aspects of managing the Human Resources function of the company, to include benefits administration, employee relations, recruiting and retention efforts, compensation, health and safety, unemployment and layoffs, employee activities planning and special projects.
Position Responsibilities, but not limited to:
Work closely management of all departments to support efforts in achieving company mission and goals.
Manage and oversee the recruiting process for all levels of candidates: executive, exempt, non-exempt including manufacturing group.
Ensures the health and welfare benefit plans are updated and changes communicated with employees. Responds to questions and issues and forwards inquiries to appropriate vendors. Works with senior management to choose insurance brokers, ensuring the best option for the Company and employees.
Develops, administers, interprets and maintains personnel policies, programs and procedures in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations; researches, develops and recommends employment policies; maintains and updates employee Handbook. Assures adherence to human resources management. Maintains employee files.
Advises managers and supervision on employee performance issues; manages or conducts employee investigations; and conducts exit interviews and reports patterns/similarities to senior management. Coaches and advises supervision on performance and disciplinary issues.
Identifies recruiting sources and strategies; creates job postings and advertisements; conducts interviews along with appropriate managers; conducts final preparation for executing a hire to include testing, reference checking with confirmation via offer and/or rejection letters. Conducts new employee onboarding.
Resolves employee relations issues to include conflict resolution, harassment investigations, wage complaints, employee disputes, attendance issues and general questions.
Administers employee performance evaluation process, ensuring timely and appropriate assessments provided by supervisors; advises managers/supervisors in this process were requested or required
Partnering with executive leadership and providing strategic guidance with HR related activities and occurrences
Oversees workers' compensation program, including claim filing/working with claims adjusters and nurse case managers. Manages injury on duty and return to work issues. Assists in developing, maintaining and updating safety policies and/or manual; prepares OSHA required documentation
Coordinates with management in the termination process, ensures correct data has been gathered and that company policies have been followed
Conducts wage surveys within labor market to determine competitive wage rates
Coordinate company-sponsored functions including Company Picnic annually, special events such as outings and anniversary lunches.
Essential competencies:
Education, Certifications and prior work experience
The position requires a Bachelor's degree and 7-10 years of progressive experience in Human Resources capacity- manufacturing environment experience preferred. PHR/SPHR certification is desired.
Skills and Abilities:
Effective oral and written communications and presentation skills are essential, as are interpersonal skills. The ability to work independently most of the time, but collaboratively when necessary.
Technical skills and abilities:
Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office software and fluent in English for both written and oral communication. Knowledge of HR laws and pending legislation is necessary. PC skills to include: MS Office software, such as Word and Excel as well as HRIS software for recordkeeping purposes. The ability to work effectively with frequently established deadlines is required. Organizational and analytical skills required. The । ability to work effectively with diverse populations. The ability to develop, plan and implement short-term and long-term range goals is required.
Leadership skills and abilities:
Effective at communicating with both internal and external customers and at all levels of management. The ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues is required.

Physical demands and work environment:
Physical demands, while performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work environment; the position is primarily an office-based position with regular visits to our Shop floor.
