This position is fully on-site at the Commons on St. Anthony in Auburn, NY.

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is a trusted advisor and thought partner to individual business units or departments. The HRBP champions Loretto's culture and provides advice to effectively execute Human Resources processes with a goal of achieving measurable service plan deliverables. The HRBP manages the relationship with individual business units within the organization. This individual is the primary contact point for all Labor and Employee Relations questions, concerns and communications. The Human Resources Business Partner interprets and ensures compliance with applicable employment laws, regulatory guidelines and collective bargaining agreements.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the business and the teams you support and make proactive recommendations on talent related issues and initiatives.
  • Coach leaders at all levels in the organization on best practices around employee engagement, communication and performance management.
  • Provide consultative support to the business on all HR policies and practices.
  • Collaborates with business unit management to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Partners with business units to ensure compliance with various Human Resources policies, procedures, current collective bargaining agreements, laws, standards, and government regulations.
  • Maintains a relationship with union leadership at the business unit level.
  • Proactively manages and resolves employee and labor relations issues such as harassment allegations, employee disputes, and employee misconduct. When appropriate, conducts thorough workplace investigations to ensure appropriate response. Initiates corrective action as indicated.
  • Coordinates unemployment claims and represents the company as needed for hearings.
  • Ensures accurate and timely workplace accident and incident reporting. Assists supervisors in conducting investigations. Responsible for working with injured employees and business unit's management regarding on-the-job accident process compliance including return to work.
  • Works with site management to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
  • Supports training to assigned business units by collaborating with Learning & Development staff. Assists in conducting new hire orientation.
  • Manages off-boarding process, analyzes data and make recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement.
  • Regularly generates statistical reports regarding all Human Resources functional areas to business unit leaders showing progress towards achievement of set goals.
  • Participates as an active member of the Human Resources Department in developing department goals, objectives, and systems. Escalates issues up the chain of command as necessary.
  • Provides training as needed to business unit staff on HR related matters.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field.
  • At least 2 years of labor and employee relations experience in Human Resources in a unionized setting required.
  • Knowledge of Federal, NY State and employment law and compliance issues is required.
  • Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. The position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with diverse groups of people and to be viewed as a credible business partner is crucial to success.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication to analyze, interpret and address customer needs and to provide an exceptional customer experience.
  • Ability to work in a time-critical, fast paced environment, to be flexible and quickly adapt to changing business needs and processes with multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proven organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A valid NYS Driver's License and reliable transportation is required for regional travel within the greater Syracuse area.
  • Extensive knowledge of computer applications including MS Office, HRIS systems databases and the ability to learn new software rapidly.
