The Human Resource Manager will lead and direct the day-to-day operations of the Human Resource department including recruitment and on-boarding, employee benefits, leave, workers compensation and will oversee employee relations, including conflict resolution and performance management and ensure company policies and practices are followed.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Manage the full-cycle recruitment process including interviewing and hiring of qualified job applicants. Collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for open positions
- Execute new hire orientation process to ensure benefits, policies and procedures are communicated effectively. Enter new employee data into computer system
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws governing Family Medical Leave Act, Americans Disabilities Act, Fair Labor Standards Act, Equal Employment Opportunity and other local, state and federal regulations
- Develop and implement initiatives to enhance employee satisfaction, engagement and retention
- Oversee employee disciplinary meetings, terminations and investigations. Handle discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy. Conduct exit interviews
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with all levels of management
- Manage benefits administration to include enrollment, claims resolution, change reporting. Reconcile and process benefit invoices for payment
- Provide timely support, guidance and training to employees as needed
- Oversee the human resource management system (ADP Workforce Now). Update employee data as needed. Create and run reports as requested
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
- Train and act as back-up for payroll and 401k processes
- Oversee annual open enrollment process including company-wide presentations
- Perform various Human Resources projects and tasks as needed or assigned
Knowledge & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience in Human Resources
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations
- Comprehensive knowledge of HR practices, including recruiting, onboarding, benefit administration and payroll processing
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with employees, management and external parties
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks/projects effectively and accurately
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to resolve disputes and maintain confidentiality. Must have a high level of personal and professional integrity
- Ability to effectively and efficiently manage daily operations and resolve problems
- Demonstrated proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite including excel
- Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now preferred
- Experience working in the transportation industry and HR certification a plus
