Job Summary
The Human Resources Director is responsible for overseeing daily HR operations within a healthcare setting. Key responsibilities include recruitment, employee relations, payroll support, benefits administration, and policy implementation. The role involves direct engagement with employees and requires a candidate experienced in healthcare HR, preferably within hospital or specialty healthcare environments, to support high-volume recruitment and reduce turnover through effective engagement strategies. This position plays a critical role in promoting a positive workplace culture, aligned with the organization's mission and values.
Essential Functions
- Policy Interpretation and Communication - Interprets and communicates hospital policies and regulations to staff via notices, memos, email, and meetings.
- Recruitment and Hiring Process - Leads recruitment efforts, including advertising, vacancy postings, candidate interviews, and background checks. Acts as a resource for department managers during hiring.
- Personnel Records and Compliance - Manages record-keeping for personnel files, ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory standards.
- Onboarding and Training - Coordinates new hire orientations and ongoing training, including CPR, behavioral health de-escalation, and competency skill assessments.
- Performance and Compliance Monitoring - Administers performance evaluations, notifies managers of upcoming appraisals, and assists with performance-related issues.
- Employee Relations - Develops programs to foster positive employee relations and engagement to support retention.
- Payroll and Attendance - Maintains time and attendance records, processes payroll, and provides end-of-pay-period reporting.
- Benefits Administration - Coordinates benefits programs, assisting employees with inquiries and open enrollments.
- Workers' Compensation - Maintains workers' compensation records, coordinates claims, and liaises with insurance providers.
- Engagement and Retention Initiatives- Leads efforts to enhance workplace culture and retain key talent through engagement strategies.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years in Human Resources (required), with 2+ years in payroll and employee relations (preferred).
- Healthcare HR Experience: Essential for success in this role.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills with an ability to work under pressure.
- Regulatory Compliance: Familiar with JCAHO, HCFA, state and federal laws, and company policy requirements.
- Certifications: CPR certification and an approved behavioral health de-escalation program (to be completed upon hire).
