Director of Human Resources

We are conducting a search for an experienced Director of Human Resources to join a well-established 300+ bed nursing home located in the Bronx, NY. This individual will lead all HR functions, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while fostering a positive and productive work environment. Labor relations will be a key component of this role, as the facility is unionized.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of human resources operations, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, training & development, and compliance.
  • Manage union negotiations, grievances, and contract administration in collaboration with leadership and legal counsel.
  • Ensure compliance with DOH, DOL, and other regulatory agencies, maintaining accurate records and policies in alignment with industry best practices.
  • Provide leadership in talent acquisition, retention strategies, and workforce planning to support operational goals.
  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures to improve efficiency and maintain a high-performance workplace.
  • Oversee performance management processes, including coaching, progressive discipline, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with department heads and executive leadership on HR strategy, staffing needs, and organizational development.
  • Ensure the effective administration of employee benefits, workers' compensation, and leave management programs.
  • Maintain knowledge of current HR trends and labor laws, advising senior management on risk mitigation and best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5+ years of HR leadership experience in a skilled nursing facility (SNF).
  • Extensive union and labor relations experience, including contract negotiations and grievance handling.
  • Knowledge of NY labor laws, DOH regulations, and healthcare compliance standards.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • SHRM or HRCI certification (preferred but not required).
