Callen-Lorde Community Health Center is seeking a dynamic and compassionate Human Resources Generalist to join our team. As a vital member of our HR department, the Generalist will play a crucial role in supporting our staff and ensuring a positive and inclusive work environment.

About the Role:

As a Human Resources Generalist, you will be involved in a wide range of HR functions, including but not limited to:

  • Benefits Administration: Assisting employees with navigating Callen-Lorde's various benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, 403(b) plan, Paid Time off (PTO), TASC, FSA, commuter benefits, Pet Assure, and tuition assistance.
  • Leave Management: Coordinating leave requests, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing support to employees to include assisting with FMLA, PFL, disability, union leave, and leaves of absence.
  • Employee Relations: Building strong relationships with employees, addressing concerns, providing counsel to department leaders on various employee matters, conduct conflict resolution and mediation meetings, and assist with workplace investigations and employee grievances, to ensure we are promoting a positive work culture.
  • HR Operations: Supporting HR initiatives, maintaining accurate employee records, and ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures. Work with the HR team on launching new features in HRIS system to ensure the HR department and management is working at maximum efficiency.
  • Talent Acquisition: Participate in all aspects of full life cycle employment including hiring, onboarding, training, promotions, career development, credentialing, compliance regulations, performance management, progressive discipline, terminations, release agreements and exit interviews.
  • Employee Experience: Providing exceptional support to employees by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring a positive work environment.

Work Schedule/Salary:

Callen-Lorde's main site in Chelsea is open Monday through Saturday. This is a full-time position with regular business hours. Occasional evenings will be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or relevant field preferred.
  • Current SHRM or HRCI Certification preferred
  • 3+ years' experience in Human Resources role
  • 3+ years' experience in benefits administration, leave management, recruiting, compliance and employee relations
  • Experience performing investigations, mediations and managing conflict resolution with demonstrated results required
  • Knowledge of state, federal employment and labor laws, and governmental compliance requirements.
  • Experience with HRIS systems
  • Must possess high credibility and absolute commitment to confidentiality and professional integrity
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications (i.e., Word and Excel)
  • Experience in a non-profit healthcare setting preferred.
