Aegis Worldwide is partnered with a manufacturing client located in Portland, IN who is looking to add an HR Manager to their team. Candidates can be experienced HR Managers, or people who are ready to take the next step in their career. The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing all HR functions, including recruitment, employee relations, orientation, performance management, and compliance with labor laws. This position requires a proactive leader who will work closely with plant leadership and staff to foster a productive and positive work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Recruitment & Staffing:

  • Manage the full-cycle recruitment process for all manufacturing positions, from entry-level to management.
  • Collaborate with department heads to identify staffing needs and job requirements.
  • Source, interview, and hire candidates, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry standards.
  • Onboard new hires and ensure a smooth integration into the manufacturing workforce.

Employee Relations & Communication:

  • Serve as a point of contact for employees on HR-related issues, ensuring a positive and supportive environment.
  • Resolve employee conflicts and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Promote open communication between management and employees, fostering a culture of trust and transparency.
  • Conduct employee surveys and feedback sessions to gauge satisfaction and improve morale.

Performance Management & Training:

  • Develop and implement performance management systems to evaluate and support employee performance.
  • Work with managers to set performance objectives, provide coaching, and guide employee development.
  • Organize training programs to enhance employee skills and meet operational needs in the manufacturing environment.
  • Promote continuous learning and career development opportunities for employees at all levels.

Compliance & Labor Relations:

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, including workplace safety regulations and wage and hour laws.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry standards, labor regulations, and collective bargaining agreements, if applicable.
  • Work with legal and safety teams to address any regulatory issues or concerns.
  • Maintain HR records, reports, and documentation in line with company policies and legal requirements.

Health & Safety:

  • Collaborate with safety managers to ensure a safe work environment and promote compliance with safety regulations.
  • Support the development and implementation of safety training and initiatives for employees in the manufacturing plant.
  • Conduct safety audits and assist in implementing corrective actions when necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree or HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in human resources, with at least 2 years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HR best practices, labor laws, and industry regulations.
  • Proven experience in talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, and training.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and handle multiple priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to address sensitive issues with discretion and professionalism.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to visit manufacturing floor and offices.
  • Occasional travel between company locations may be required.

Work Environment:

  • This role involves both office and plant-based environments, requiring flexibility to navigate both settings. PPE (personal protective equipment) may be required when on the manufacturing floor.
