Applicants should follow the instructions in the To Apply section. DEFINITION: Provides professional level human resources management work at the Iowa State Fair. WORK DUTIES: Advanced level, complex human resource management that has a direct impact on Iowa State Fair's personnel.
- Reviews, updates and develops an authority-wide personnel office servicing all departments for both full-time (70 staff) and seasonal (1,300 staff) employment including but not limited to: hiring, termination, termination, benefits, grievances, employee recognition, employee identification, unemployment, worker's compensation, salary recommendations, classification, documentation, etc.
- Consults with and advises Fair management on disciplinary measures, collective bargaining administration, civil rights complaints, discriminatory harassment complaints and other human resources issues.
- Works with Fair management and 3rd party administrators on unemployment and worker's compensation approvals/denials.
- Creates and updates written policies such as the employee handbook, ADA policies, workplace violence, severe weather, etc.
- Provides training on all State of Iowa mandated policies.
- Ensures that all personnel practices are being completed and in compliance with all state and federal laws; ADA, child labor laws. OSHA etc..
- Maintains all records relating to employment including, but not limited to: personnel files, benefit packages, employment forms, etc.
- Works with the Iowa Department Administrative Services/Human Resources Enterprise as contracted or mandated, including managing benefit programs in WorkDay.
- Coordinates employee assessment programs.
- Serve on committees as requested
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualification Requirements Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification: 1. Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree and experience equal to four years of full-time work in one or more professional-level human resources management areas such as employment, recruitment, position classification, compensation, labor relations, collective bargaining, safety, worker's compensation, wellness, and benefits administration. 2, A combination of a total of eight years of education and full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work equals one year full-time experience. 3. Graduation from an accredited law school.
