Position Summary The Human Resource Manager will lead and direct the routine functions of the Human Resources (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, supporting payroll processing, communicating employee benefit plans, supporting leave administration, managing employee relations, and enforcing company policies and practices at our manufacturing site. Responsibilities
- Partners with the corporate HR team and leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, attraction and retention and employee development needs.
- Provides support and guidance to HR team, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodation, investigating employee relations issues, and preparing termination recommendations.
- Day-to-day leadership and guidance regarding employment issues including but not limited to corrective action, grievance resolution, union negotiations, and other labor/employee relations matters.
- Manages the talent acquisition process, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants, particularly for managerial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborating with corporate Talent Acquisition lead to understanding employer brand and system requirements and support.
- Analyzes trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base and incentive pay programs to corporate HR team to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent.
- Works with corporate HR team to develop and execute learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees.
- Manages local compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices to corporate HR when applicable.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law, specific to site location.
- Interpretation of collective bargaining agreement including participation in grievance proceedings and board charges. To include monthly reporting of issues to corporate HR.
- Oversee new employee orientation and new hire documentation in compliance with company policies and procedures, including employment authorization through E-Verify program.
- Audits employee files for compliance on all employment activities, including monitoring hire, job change, wage change, personal information, employee benefits and termination.
- Maintain necessary personnel documentation for employee files to include wages, overtime, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, etc.
- In partnership with corporate HR, lead local annual benefit enrollment process for plant employees, includes form distribution, answer questions, form collection, and data entry of benefit changes.
- Review's location timecards, addresses concerns and ensure they are handled effectively and timely, to submit for payroll to cooperate HR Team.
- Leads and budgets the organization's employee engagement designed to promote and drive strong employee culture.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in human resources, business, or related field required
Experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
- Prior Union experience preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and/or related software
- Knowledge of state and federal employment laws and compliance programs (NLRB, ADA, FLMA, FLSA, EEO regulations/AAP, etc.)
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Bi-lingual in English and Spanish preferred (read/ write/ speak)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Fluency in Spanish strongly preferred (read/write/speak)
- Strong knowledge of compensation practices involved in recruitment is required.
- Proven ability to be strategic in sourcing and recruiting activities, including ability to analyze market and demographic data and put together a comprehensive sourcing strategy required.
- Coach and advise the hiring managers on the best hiring practices required.
- Demonstrated understanding and ability to execute full employee life-cycle practices.
- Excellent project management and business literacy skills required.
- Strong sense of urgency, results and action-oriented required.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills required.
- Track record of building and maintaining strong customer relationships while providing excellent customer service required
- Ability to work independently and with all levels of management and staff in support of strategic plan execution required.
- Ability to work effectively within a matrix environment required.
