Job Summary

Under general supervision, performs a variety of human resources support activities. Works closely with other departments, units, managers, employees, and vendors to ensure the efficient operations of Human Resources day-to-day functions. The selected candidate will work at the Crestmore Center of Technical Excellence location.

Compensation

$65,000.00 to $75,000.00 annualized DOE.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with management on day-to-day issues that arise regarding employees, including administering discipline and policy and managing other HR related matters• Provide interpretation, training, and guidance regarding new policies and procedures• Responsible for recruitment of hourly positions for the company's ready-mix concrete, cement terminal, and aggregates operations• Manage the pre-employment and onboarding hiring process, i.e. background check requests, coordination of physicals, drug screens, verification of employment, and Clearinghouse processing for drivers• Conduct new hire orientation and submit all required paperwork for payroll/SAP processing• Process new hires through New Hire/E-Verify online portals and maintain compliant I-9 Forms• Create and maintain complaint personnel, Driver Qualification (DQF), and medical files• Submit drug and alcohol test requests for Department of Transportation (DOT) and NON-DOT testing to include new hires, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and random testing drug; report results as necessary to management• Maintain DQF files for all commercial drivers and DOT-regulated employees including annual MVR processing, current CDL and medical certifications• Maintain relationships with contracted industrial clinics, mobile drug testing companies, and MRO• Assist with job fairs and plant-related events• Conduct annual audits of personnel and DQF files, I-9 forms, and other internal processes• Prepare and maintain employee communications for the regional office and plant locations• Answer incoming calls to the HR line and direct them to the appropriate department• Order and maintain compliant annual labor law posters for the regional office and plant locations• Respond to unemployment claims, when necessary; work closely with TPA on unemployment claim hearings and appeals• Process vendor invoices to ensure they are accurate• Prepare and maintain monthly HR Reports for Division, including monthly HR reports, turnover reports, and other miscellaneous reports• Open and sort department mail and order office supplies; process timely mailings• Support regional Human Resources Manager and maintain an open line of communication

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Labor Industrial Relations, Public Administration, Social Science, or a closely related field preferred• 5-8 years of HR Experience in the Construction/Transportation industry

Requirements/Qualifications

• Ability to forge good working relationships with others, including Managers/Supervisors while ensuring accountability to standards and procedures• Experience with Labor Relations/Union environment• Must be willing to travel between local offices• Knowledge of state and federal law including but not limited to Fair Labor Standards Act, Title VII, EEO and Leave laws, as well as local and state laws• Must have experience with DOT Regulation compliance and familiar with all requirements for DOT regulated personnel to include hours of service, DQ file compliance, MIS Reporting• HRIS/Applicant Tracking experience• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)• Strong interpersonal skills, as well as exceptional customer service is a must; “get the job done” mentality• Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills; ability to prioritize workload• Excellent oral and written communications skills• Highly confidential and ethical

Preferred:

  • Related experience in construction/building materials
  • Bilingual in Spanish
  • Payroll experience working with payroll software
  • Creative, strategic recruiting experience
Conditions of Employment

Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check. Some positions require FMCSA regulated on-going drug and alcohol testing.
