Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesIn addition to adhering to the general guidelines as specified by the Faculty/Staff Handbook, the Human Resources Coordinator, the Dean of Students, the President, and the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, responsibilities include the following:
  • Assist with the recruitment of qualified prospective employees,
  • Gather and collect data from various resources for reports; run reports as needed,
  • Prepare and submit required forms and reports related to the employment of college personnel,
  • Assist search committees in administering the search process,
  • Maintain liaison with department heads on personnel related matters,
  • Assist in the development, and maintenance of job descriptions for all college employees,
  • Work with the HR Coordinator in completing Onboarding processes,
  • Conduct background checks,
  • Ability to clarify and interpret policies and procedures affecting college employees,
  • Maintain all personnel files,
  • Complete contracts for instructional and non-instructional employees,
  • Ensure employment processes and forms are in compliance with state and federal requirements,
  • Maintain sick leave bank records,
  • Verify employment information to requesting agencies (with written approval from employee if needed),
  • Assist with maintaining audit files,
  • Assist with orientation of new employees,
  • Write employee and professional service contracts,
  • Update personnel section of Faculty/Staff Handbook,
  • Participate in professional developments as appropriate,
  • Prepare reports and correspondence as requested,
  • Update Campus Directory,
  • Assist with special projects as needed,
  • Prepare annual Letters of Appointment verifying salary and benefits for all staff
  • Work well with others and show respect to all college constituents,
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Human Resources Coordinator, Executive Assistant to the President and the President.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited institution,
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Have knowledge of SCT Banner system,
  • Three (3) years of work experience in an office setting in higher education.
  • An understanding of and a commitment to the philosophy and mission of the Alabama Community College System.
