Porter-Starke Services is looking to add to our Human Resources Team!We are currently seeking an Human Resources Specialist! This role will assist with the human resources functions for Porter-Starke Services, Inc., a Community Mental Health Center based in Valparaiso, Indiana that serves clients throughout northwest Indiana. Porter-Starke Services also operates Marram Health Center, a Federally Qualified Health Center. The Human Resources Specialist will assist in personnel administration, compensation, benefits, training, employee relations, recruiting, and other human resources functions.COMPANY BENEFITS:401(k) with 20% company matchingMedical, Dental, and Vision insurance optionsCompany paid life insurance and long term disabilityEmployee discounts (YMCA)Health Savings and Flexible Spending AccountsGenerous PTO11 paid holidaysEducational Reimbursement & Tuition Assistance ProgramsCompany-wide employee recognition eventsFree health and wellness screeningsEAP ProgramMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:The Human Resources (HR) Specialist may perform the following:Maintains and data enters personnel information and employee records related to the areas of recruitment, employment, compensation, benefits, training, performance management, employee relations and legal compliance.Responds and tracks all FMLA and personal leave of absence requests.Assist in employment process, which includes updating job descriptions, advertising, job postings, background checks, reference verification and responding to questions as needed.Verifies I-9 documentation and maintains I-9 records.Assists in benefit plan administration, such as insurance and pension plan, personnel transactions such as hires, promotions, transfers, performance reviews, terminations, government reporting.Generates a variety of reports for the Human Resources department, organization and outside agencies.Responsible for annual open enrollment and coordinating annual wellness labs for staff.Reports weekly on immunization tracking for employees.Assists and coordinates employee training and development programs, which includes new employee orientation, employee and management training, computer training and re-certification.Updates Human Resource related announcements.Assists with security systems, such as employee identification badges and door lock activation.Tracks and notifies staff of required training and professional license expiration.Advises and counsels employees on certain personnel matters, work-related problems, personnel benefits, policy and procedures.Assist in analyzing and modifying Human Resources policies to establish competitive programs and ensure compliance with legal requirements.Assists Supervisors with time management system issues as necessary. Works closely with payroll department to verify employee information.Maintains personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements.Keeps information accessible by sorting and filing documents.Assist with coordinating employee recognition events (awards dinner, summer picnic/event).Other related duties as assigned, duties may be adjusted based on experience level.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:High school diploma required, Bachelor's degree in a related field preferredPrior Human Resources experience preferredMust have excellent communication skills and proficient in MS Office suite and other computer skillsTo learn more about Porter-Starke please visit our website at www.porterstarke.org
