The HR Technician will assist with our Tyler Munis HRIS system and assist with the on-boarding of new employees. The individual will have a high level of interruptions and a great deal of customer interaction with employees, applicants, vendors, department contacts and citizens. Under supervision performs work of moderate difficulty in public human resources and benefits administration; performs related work as assigned.Please note: This position is 100% on-site Typical Duties
- Performs a wide range of duties relative to the maintenance and processing of personnel records and reports
- Processes payroll changes using computerized system such as new hires, salary changes, employee information changes, transfers, promotions, terminations, and other HR related transactions
- Interacts with and supplies information to job applicants, employees, department directors/elected officials, and public and private agencies
- Provides clerical and operational support to other human resources staff
- Processes employee performance evaluations
- Verifies employment status
- Manages the reception desk and incoming and outgoing mail
- Provides clerical and operational support to other human resources staff
- Assists with HR related programs such as new employee orientation, employee recognition, volunteer time off, and other valuable HR programs
- Maintains high standards of confidentiality
- Participates in special projects as assigned
Essential functions include but not limited to sitting for data entry, phones in main reception area; lifting of boxes and office supplies up to 50 lbs; working with and around co-workers, public and employees; being able to handle frequent interruptions; repetitive (hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder) motion for computer work; color vision for working with computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate with others by phone, and customer contact; finger dexterity for data entry.Minimum QualificationsThree years of increasingly responsible work experience in a clerical support position; ORAssociate degree in a related field and two years of increasingly responsible work experience in a clerical support position; ORBachelor's degree in a related field and one year of increasingly responsible work experience in a clerical support position; ORAny combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.The ideal candidate has excellent customer service skills, is detail oriented, works well with multiple deadlines, can work effectively with multiple interruptions, and enjoys being part of a collaborative team. Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher software.
- Human resources experience preferred including Payroll, Benefits, On-Boarding, & HRIS experience.
- Previous front receptionist experience, strong customer service skills and accurate data entry preferred.
- Ability to consistently manage time and resources in a fast-paced environment to appropriately prioritize and complete identified projects, goals, and objectives.
- Demonstrate a competency for appropriately following up and completing assignments and tasks, while paying close attention to detail.
- A strong ability to be adaptable to changing situations and environments with the capability to take instruction from multiple, senior-level staff members.
- A demonstrated ability to take imitative and work independently with confidence.
