Job Description :
Primary Purpose:Under general supervision, maintain, repair, equipment throughout the district. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all HVAC systems in district facilities.Qualifications:Education/Certification:High school diploma or GEDValid Texas driver's licenseSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Knowledge of HVAC repairs, maintenance, and installation techniquesAbility to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference materialAbility to perform mathematical calculationsAbility to diagnose and resolve problemsAbility to use hand and power toolsExperience:Five years experience in HVAC fieldMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Maintenance and Repair
  • Routine checks on HVAC units and report possible issues to the HVAC Technician.
  • Repair, replace, or calibrate controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and electrical wiring.
  • Routine maintenance of heat pump, blower belts, pulley's and coils, to include adjustments, general cleaning and/or replacement.
  • Wire and connect motors, compressors, temperature controls, and humidity controls according to wiring schematics.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for all HVAC equipment, including changing of filters and cleaning condensers and coils.
  • Perform duct cleaning and air quality testing as needed.
  • Routine inspections on walk-in coolers ensuring efficient temperature and equipment functions.
  • Routine inspections of all ice machines during peak seasons throughout the District to ensure the quality of ice, water flow and proper function.
  • Scheduled maintenance of all machines, to the extent of troubleshooting, diagnosing and repair.
  • Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Detect needed repairs on equipment following established inspection procedures.
  • Respond to emergency calls as needed.
  • Safety
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment.
  • Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  • Ensure that equipment is in safe operating condition.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities:None.Equipment Used:Meter, gage, welding equipment, ladder, hoist, hand and power tools, pipe bender, propane torch. Light truck or van.Working Conditions:Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures.
