Job Summary:
Responsible for the safe and effective operation of Hyperbaric chambers through the course of diving operations. Ensures chambers are in a constant state of readiness.

Education:
* High school diploma or equivalent
* Diploma from ADCE Compliant Commercial Dive School
* Current ADCI Certification for the type of diving being performed or CHT certification
* ALST Certification
* DCBC Certification
* Current First Aid, CPR, AED, Oxygen Administration Certifications
* OSHA 10 Hour - Construction
Experience:
* 5 years' experience working in commercial diving operations.
* Experience working with Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, and Excel with experience learning new computer software including tablet-based safety programs and job/project reporting.
Skills:
* Knowledgeable of the physical laws that influence pressure and its relation to volume, temperature, pressure and the effects of pressure on gases entering a diver's bloodstream.
* Knowledge of pressure-related symptoms and pressure related injuries and illnesses that a diver in recompression may suffer.
* Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manor (verbal and written)
* Able to work in a team environment
* Works well must work in a high demand environment
* Knowledge of OSHA regulations
* Must have a positive outlook and willingness to learn.
Responsibilities:
* Monitors and control the pressure inside a hyperbaric chamber to monitor the health of divers within the chamber
* Make necessary changes in pressure necessary to allow the diver to readjust to sea level pressures.
* Ensure maintenance and cleanliness of the chamber.
* Will work with other divers, tenders, and Ballard personnel to plan for safe operations for commercial diving activities and other construction activities that occur throughout a project.
* Performs gas analysis, gage management, mixed gas monitoring and monitors slide and ventilation rates.
* Recognize the signs and symptoms of CNS O2 toxicity, Hypercapnia, POIS, and decompression sickness and respond with the correct course of action.
* Performs other duties as assigned
Physical Demands/Working Environment:
* Ability to lift fifty (50) pounds, bend, stoop, and work safely around equipment, materials, supplies, and other items to be handled
* Ability to remain outdoors for long periods of time in various seasons and conditions.
* Long hours and exposure to strenuous conditions
* Must be able to work overtime and be flexible with hours (day/night/weekend)
* Climb ladders, work at heights, walk and stand on uneven surfaces, ride, or work from a barge, pier, vessel, etc.
* Ability to sit, stand, kneel, squat, push, pull, etc. for varying amounts of time.
* Must have good hand-eye coordination.
* Must be able to hear adequately enough to receive and understand instructions, be alerted by horns, sirens, shouting, or any other noise that is meant to convey a safety warning.
* Lift arms above shoulder level (i.e. lifts items into a truck or overhead area).
* Climb ladders or steps to reach objects.
* Must be able to work at heights of up to 50' or more.
* Must be able to work in confined or enclosed spaces.
* Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
* Must be able to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, safety-toed boots, or other applicable PPE.
* Must be able to walk moderate distances to reach work area (1/2 mile or more).
* Ability to travel and work for many weeks at a time away from home.
Union Rates:
* $25-$45/per hour
