The City of Laramie is accepting applications for an Ice & Event Center Customer Service Specialist. This position will assist in daily operations at the Ice & Event Center, including, but not limited to, supervision of the building and patrons, Ice & Event Center health-safety issues, customer service, maintaining the facility, performing routine ice maintenance, skate sharpening and working with the user groups. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Check-in guests and groups; take payments and rent out skating equipment. Take registrations for classes and leagues. Foodservice of concessions type food. Oversee the safety of patrons and enforce rules on the ice and in the ice arena. Public relations and customer service. Upkeep of the ice arena lobby, cleaning and organizing. Identify hazards and unsafe practices and make suitable recommendations for minimizing or eliminating those hazards. Operation of the Zamboni to perform routine ice maintenance. Operation of the Skate Sharpening machine to sharpen rental and customer ice skates. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Any combination equivalent to experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities would be qualifying): Ability to work independently. Organizational skills and ability to use computers and various programs. Excellent customer service skills, ability to communicate verbally and in written form. Capable of taking direction and instruction from supervisors. Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to ice activities. An understanding of basic food service and food safety. Ability to acquire CPR certification and First Aid certification. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Ability to ice skate. Demonstrate ability for self-motivation and taking initiative as well as good work ethic, good attitude, leadership, maturity, ability to calmly communicate. Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to recreational activities and the Ice Arena. Demonstrate ability for self-motivation. Ability to create and maintain enthusiasm among participants. Previous experience working in an ice arena. High School Diploma or equivalent.Must be 16 years old upon hireApplicants who are offered an appointment are required to pass a comprehensive background investigation, drug screening test and driver license check.
