Job Title: Import Supervisor

Job Summary:The Import Supervisor will be responsible for managing and overseeing the import operations, ensuring the efficient and compliant importation of goods. This includes coordinating with suppliers, logistics providers, and customs authorities to ensure timely delivery of goods, managing import documentation, and maintaining compliance with relevant import regulations. The role will also focus on optimizing processes, controlling costs, and ensuring smooth operations in the importation process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Import Operations Management:
    • Oversee the end-to-end import process, from order placement to goods delivery.
    • Coordinate with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal teams to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
    • Ensure the proper handling of import documentation, including customs declarations, invoices, bills of lading, and import permits.
  • Customs Compliance:
    • Ensure all import activities comply with relevant customs regulations, laws, and international trade requirements.
    • Monitor changes in customs regulations and implement necessary adjustments in import procedures.
    • Work closely with customs authorities to resolve any issues or delays related to customs clearance.
  • Vendor and Supplier Management:
    • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and logistics providers to ensure smooth import operations.
    • Evaluate and select freight forwarders, customs brokers, and other vendors to optimize costs and improve operational efficiency.
    • Negotiate and review contracts with vendors, ensuring favorable terms for the company.
  • Cost Management and Optimization:
    • Monitor and control import-related costs, including freight, customs duties, and taxes.
    • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities in the import process while maintaining compliance and efficiency.
    • Prepare and manage import budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness in the supply chain.
  • Team Management and Development:
    • Supervise and guide a team of import staff, ensuring clear communication and effective collaboration.
    • Provide training and development opportunities to improve the skills and knowledge of the team.
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Ensure all import documentation is accurate, complete, and filed in compliance with legal and company requirements.
    • Generate reports on import activities, including costs, timelines, and any issues encountered, and present them to senior management.
    • Maintain accurate records of import shipments and assist in audits when necessary.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Continuously assess and improve import processes to enhance efficiency and reduce delays.
    • Implement best practices and streamline procedures to improve the overall importation workflow.
    • Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, logistics, and finance, to optimize cross-functional workflows.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
    • 3+ years of experience in import operations, logistics, or customs management.
    • Strong knowledge of international trade, customs regulations, and import procedures.
    • Experience in managing relationships with suppliers, logistics providers, and customs authorities.
    • Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with import management software.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Bilingual in Chinese and English.

    Additional Information:

    • The Import Supervisor will report directly to logistics Manager.
    • This position may require occasional travel.
    • The role is based in city of industry, CA.
