Improvement Engineer is responsible for leading the plant-level improvement process by gathering and analyzing data, evaluating improvement opportunities, and implementing improvement projects. This role ensures plant improvements align with business objectives via the Plant Specific Technology Plan to close performance and reliability gaps, reduce costs, and increase productivity (capacity creep, reliability, etc.). In addition, the Improvement Engineer provides expense and capital project support, which may include filling various roles in the global project execution work processes, such as project manager, manufacturing representative, Six Sigma green/black belt, etc. Improvement Engineer Essential Job Functions:
- Provides leadership and direction in the day-to-day decision making for the operating area of responsibility.
- Initiates changes to Plant Operating procedures to ensure they are valid and up to date. Will work with Technical Advisors and Operators in this respect.
- Implements best practices to optimize operations, including owning the pipeline and tracking tools
- Ensures regulatory and responsible care compliance via operating discipline. Understands and applies
- Serves as Subject Matter Expert for any appointed areas of expertise (e.g. process safety, process area / equipment, work process disciplines, etc.), and serve in plant on-call rotation.
Improvement Engineer Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree* in Engineering; Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred
- 3 years of project/manufacturing experience required; 4 years preferred
- Chemical industry experience required. Chlorinated Organics industry experience preferred.
- Experience managing vendor proposals and quotations, contractor bids and development of desired solutions for projects preferred
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills - verbal and written, and demonstrated ability to problem solve and work in a team environment
- Knowledge of OSHA 1910.119 PSM standard and SAP preferred
- Must be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) and possess a valid US Driver's license
