Mobility Support: - Assist with safe mobility practices, including the use of walkers, canes, or wheelchairs.
- Implement physical therapy exercises as recommended by healthcare professionals to promote recovery and improve strength.
Personal Care: - Aid with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Ensure the client's comfort and dignity while maintaining hygiene standards.
Nutritional Support: - Prepare and serve meals that meet dietary restrictions and nutritional needs.
- Assist with feeding if the client has difficulty eating independently.
Emotional and Cognitive Support: - Engage the client in cognitive activities to aid mental stimulation and emotional well-being.
- Offer companionship and emotional support to help manage post-stroke depression or anxiety.
Safety and Emergency Preparedness: - Ensure the home environment is safe and accessible, minimizing fall risks and other hazards.
- Be prepared to respond promptly and appropriately in case of an emergency.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience:
- At least 1+ year of experience caregiving
- Training:
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is preferred.
- Training in handling mobility devices and transfer techniques.
- Communication:
- Excellent verbal communication skills to effectively interact with the client and healthcare team.
- Patience and Compassion:
- A compassionate nature and the ability to remain patient and supportive through challenging situations.
