The Department of Parks and Recreation offers a variety of children's programs for ages 3-14, at various sites to include indoor, as well as outdoor environments. Our programs serve a broad base of families. We are currently seeking highly motivated individuals to join our team and work closely with children with disabilities who would like to participate in the programs we offer.An ideal candidate should:* Have prior experience working with children with disabilities in structured settings/program.* Have the knowledge of special needs.* Demonstrate a high level of enthusiasm and caring for the program as well as its participants.* Be able to provide a high level of customer service.* Be able to problem solve, work independently and have good communications skills.* Be able to work within a team setting to accomplish program goals.Typical duties might include:* Facilitating a behavior modification plan.* Maintaining accurate records to document child's progress.* Finding and implementing energetic and creative ways to encourage full participation in program activities.* Participating in activities with the child and developing solid working relationships with program staff to ensure success.It is important to note that the Inclusion Aide position is a part-time, as needed position. Hours can vary and are dependent upon enrollment. Candidates must be at least 18 years old AND have 6 months experience working with children with special needs.The Department of Parks and Recreation conducts DMV records checks on all employees driving for work purposes and criminal background checks on all hires age 18 years and older. Fingerprinting may be required.Starting Rate of Pay: $16.25Note: The information that follows is a County-wide Classification Specification that may include details not specifically applicable to this position.NATURE OF WORKThis class is part of the Recreation Job Family. Incumbents performs routine work in connection with various recreation programs or activities. Work is performed under close supervision with specific instructions provided as to the duties to be completed, the order of completion and method of completion. May perform duties as a building/field attendant, lifeguard II, head concessionaire, head cashier, food and beverage supervisor, children's leader or nursery attendant; and providing daily upkeep and light maintenance of equipment and facility.Distinguishing CharacteristicsThis is an entry-level position that is responsible for providing administrative support and ensuring visitor and participant safety within the facility. Work is performed in accordance with set procedures and guidelines, and deviation from those guidelines require approval. May serve as a lead worker.TYPICAL CLASS RESPONSIBILITIES (These responsibilities are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)1.Provides excellence in customer service by answering questions and providing information to the public. May provide specialized services based on the program or customer2.Carrying out program plans, activities, and lessons. Sets up equipment or materials needed for an activity and cleans up after program.3.Maintains and prepares equipment and facility for ongoing programs; prepares lesson plans and maintains related records.4.Enforces program rules; provides emergency care and treatment as required.5.Maintains required logs and prepares related reports.
