Will have a work location at Giant Eagle Corporate office.Position Description:This position is an embedded liaison with Achieva's business partner, Giant Eagle, servicing locations in Western Pennsylvania. The Supported Employment Liaison works with Giant Eagle and other third-party organizations to promote and help support employment opportunities for individuals with various disabilities. This position supports individuals from the application through the hiring process to become productive employees. The majority of the time, the Supported Employment Liaison will be at various Giant Eagle locations or attending job fairs with or without our Talent Acquisition team. Assist current Team Members with disabilities, with additional support or a Job coach to aid in changing or improving in their current role. A Supported Employment Liaison is a professional who acts as a bridge between employers, employees with disabilities, and any support services needed to ensure a successful work experience. Their primary role is to facilitate supported employment, which is an approach aimed at helping individuals with disabilities or other barriers to employment secure and maintain competitive, integrated jobs in the community.Key Responsibilities of a Supported Employment Liaison:
Assessment and Placement: They assess the skills and needs of individuals to help place them in suitable job roles.Job Coaching and Training: Provide on-the-job support and training to help individuals develop skills needed to succeed in their roles.Workplace Accommodations: Coordinate necessary accommodations, modifications, or assistive devices to create an accessible and inclusive work environment.Employer Partnership: Work closely with employers to ensure they understand the abilities and needs of supported employees, fostering an inclusive culture.Ongoing Support: Offer continuous support, monitoring, and adjustment of support plans to help individuals maintain employment.Goals of Supported Employment Liaisons:
- Promote independence and self-sufficiency for employees with disabilities.
- Educate and support employers in understanding disability inclusion.
- Increase successful, long-term employment placements by ensuring all parties have the resources they need for success.
Supported Employment Liaisons often work with agencies, nonprofits, or government programs focused on vocational rehabilitation or disability services, ensuring that both employees and employers have a positive and productive experience.The successful candidate will have experience guiding individuals with disabilities through the employment process and developing relationships with businesses to increase employment opportunities for students transitioning to the workforce and adults with disabilities. Having supported employment experience and knowledge of how the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation operates is a plus. Reports to the Associate Director of Business Services Vice President of Employment Supports and works closely with the appointed contact at Giant Eagle or designee.Job Responsibilities - HighlightsRecruitment
- Learn Giant Eagle's core values, hiring procedures and application processes and apply to the recruitment of qualified job candidates.
- Coordinate with Giant Eagle management, human resources and front-line managers and supervisors to identify high demand job openings.
- Job shadow high demand positions to broadly assess the essential functions, tasks, skills and traits of positions to assist in recruitment of appropriate job candidates.
- Identify priority needs on a weekly basis to assist in recruitment of appropriate job candidates.
- Assist referred job candidates with pre-employment activities to include application assistance, interviews, and the outcome of interviews, maintaining communication with appropriate parties OR coordinate the service delivery.
- Identify internal needs for disability related training if Giant Eagle staff.
Onboarding
- Partner with Giant Eagle management and or human resources staff to gain full understanding of onboarding processes and employment policies to assist in identifying potential need for supportive services or accommodations.
- Support Giant Eagle's management team, human resources and front-line managers and supervisors to ensure that any accommodations, assistive technologies, and supported employment services are in place prior to employee start date and meet employer's expectations.
- Follow up with all new hires and their supervisors to ensure that Giant Eagle and employees are satisfied with the level of support.
Retention
- Secure and share required releases of information documentation for existing employees experiencing any disability related performance issues for approval to share information.
- Work with Giant Eagle management, human resources, managers and supervisors to identify and support existing employees experiencing any disability related performance issues.
- Assess the need for interventions to address gaps between job duties with disability; facilitate the implementation of those interventions.
- Assist existing employees with disability related performance issues.
- Ensure the prompt and effective implementation of all Giant Eagle employment services designed to retain employees, meeting Giant Eagle's expectations and satisfaction.
Sustainability
- Help Giant Eagle identify no-cost business solutions that enhance the culture of diversity, inclusion, and universal design.
- Track and report all placements that may be eligible for wage reimbursement.
- Coordinate with appropriate Giant Eagle staff to ensure that all eligible Work Opportunity Tax Credit hires are submitted for possible employer tax credits and track credits paid.
Must have or be willing to obtain one of the following within six (6) months of first day of hire: a Certified Employment Support Professional (CESP) credential from the Association of People Supporting Employment First (APSE); a Basic or Professional Employment Services Certificate of Achievement in Employment Services from the Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators (ACRE).Minimum Requirements
- Four-year degree in rehabilitation counseling, social work, human resources, adult education, career and work counseling, or a related field
- A minimum of 2 years of related experience.
- Must have reliable transportation to travel to multiple locations including Giant Eagle and off-site locations.
- Act 33/34 and FBI clearances. Achieva pays for all required clearances.
